I'm glad you realize they're not necessary - most smartphone owners think the world would stop turning if they didn't have one.
And yea, people are becoming dumb as hell, thanx to these things. But I'm well known for my dislike of smartphones (!!), I wouldn't be caught dead with one, and I personally think that they're a pain in the ass to deal with (I've had to deal with my wife's a couple or three times). I don't worship at the altar of the latter day false God, conVEEEEEENience to start with, nor do I think a smartphone is convenient, its a crippled toy as far as I'm concerned. A mediocre phone and a HORRID computer as I like to say.

For the life of me I have not figured out why auto manufactures can't just make a simple retro type vehicle with current emission standards less all the other junk. Like make a retro Jeep wrangler with a basic modern in line 6 cylinder mated to a simple auto or 5speed and go ahead with the stupid air bags or whatever but stick to simplicity and price it under $35K. Jeeps today are just about unrecognizable from what they were just 20 years ago.
But why would they do that when they can get people to buy a $50 -85K Gladiator with an Pentastar V-6 that has known valvetrain issues , electronic nightmares , and a 5 foot bed .

It blows my mind how many people treat their vehicles as disposable (the single-servings ...) - so I don't think many care about this stuff (despite the insane costs right now, apparently ~40% of the costs being electronics). I saw something recently that over 20% of car payments initiated since late '25 are over $1,000/mo...
The margin on electronics is just brain dead , We have been taught that electronics are super expensive , however if that was the case , why aren't more companies repairing electronics ? It truly is a shame that folks think vehicles are single -serving .
As young as I am, I've at least taught myself everything I need to know how to live without them. Personally, I think people become too reliant on new technology and have no idea what to do when it goes wrong.
Simply all in how it's used. It can cripple you, or it can launch you far ahead of the competition. It's on the end user IMO

The wife has had a newer Jeep for years. ‘01 XJ , ‘11 JK, ‘13 JKU, ‘18 JKU and now a ‘21 JKU. She loves it. It’s her daily. 2” Mopar lift with Rancho 9000’s. Heated seats and Bluetooth. What’s not to love. We even tow our Westerner with it.
To each his own but to say they are “unreliable junk riddled with issues “ is just ridiculous. We had an AC actuator issue in the ‘13 and an odd charging issue with the ‘18 but both were remedied by the dealer in sufficient time.
All that said my wife wants an old Xj again. Preferably a ‘00 Limited with leather and heated seats, 16” wheels and a factory roof rack. When my Lj is done I think that’ll be my next project.

I figured that might be an interpretation, but not specifically - more the shapes and styles on it. The eyes are from the new cherokee, so I get that as a brand theme - even with them more pronounced here.
Had a 2026 Grand Wagoneer over the weekend, one of the many things I disliked was the lights.
Not sure how much I trust that post. That guy Zac, does a crap ton of trolling videos spewing BS about trucks. Whatever gets the view I suppose, but he'll do lists of best vs worst sounding trucks, then put ecoboosts and other fart cans as the best sounding.
IMO I think a lot of these are just AI pics. I've done a little digging and asked chatgpt and it doesn't look like jeep has actually released any info on the 2027 wrangler, so I assume most of these are BS.
Personally, I think (I hope) Jeep might do something good for the next wrangler. The last CEO of Stellantis was a fruitcake pushing an agenda, hopefully the new one lets jeep do something cool similar to allowing Dodge and Ram to do the new TRX and bring the v8 back

Most people don't do the math, or don't care. All they focus on is the monthly payment and the emotion of having the new thing. If they can barely afford that, they think they are all set.
In 2015 I almost bought a 3.6L 2-door JK. I had a rusting out XJ at the time, and my first "real job" after college. I test drove the JK, and it was okay, but I wasn't in love with it for how much it cost. It really didn't drive any better than my lifted 2000 XJ at the time. The dealership broke the monthly payments down so it seemed manageable, but then I did the math with the interest and additional insurance/tax costs. The amount I would be paying for a then brand new vehicle that would probably rust out in 8-10 years was mind blowing to me. I left, made some repairs to my Cherokee and drove it for a few more years. Fast forward to now, I have a 98 TJ I like more than the JK I test drove, and daily drive a 2019 Grand Cherokee V8 I bought used 2 years ago for half the price that JK was back in the day.
I know two people who just off-loaded their new(er) Wagoneers ('24 or '25) due to constant ongoing problems. One mentioned electrical issues, the other said is was constant mechanical issues that lead them to a new Tahoe. I thought that was interesting. They're not "car people", but they were so proud when they first got those Wagoneers.
