Where would I mount steps?

Even though I'm 6ft tall, i still have a bit of a jump to get in my TJ (it's worse for my 5ft girlfriend). And a buddy of mine said I could have the steps that are mounted on his ranger (bolted to the floor pans). However, after I started looking for places to mount them on my TJ, I noticed there isn't really anywhere to mount them without making my own holes. Am I over looking something or is there more I have to do to mount steps? Or should I suck it up and buy steps meant for a TJ?

If you wheel it, you might not want to have steps on it. Most Jeeps I wheel with have either had the steps tore off, or banged up pretty good.

You can get electric steps that will drop down when you open the door. Probably not easy on the wallet though.

I'm not 100% on the lift, I'd say 4in plus a 2in body lift and I'm running 33 swampers

I don't plan to wheel it a lot, I have a mud truck so the jeep is sort of just an eye candy. I'll take it out here and there, and I have grab bars on the way, maybe that will make it a bit easier and I can just deal with it.

Well, that's pretty tall for a 5' woman for sure. The problem with steps is that if you wheel your Jeep on uneven terrain, steps have some inherent problems... they can drag on the terrain, they can get damaged, or they can actually be torn off.

My TJ has a 4" suspension lift plus a 1" body lift and what can really help are some simple hand straps velcroed to the rollbar over the door opening. Better yet were the welded handles on my previous TJ's cage but the straps on the current TJ do the trick for her and I. I'm only 5-9 so the I use the handle as an assist which works ok for me. I've even seen something like a stirrup attached to the seat base on the lady's side that gets flipped out to get in and pulled back in once in the seat.

Steps would be something I'd only add if you never plan to wheel it on uneven terrain.

If it is a TJ and you love yer wife side steps were an option or included on everything but the Rubi. They are a dime a dozen at the auto wreckers.

Well past the best before date.
And that's an option for transporting the soft top frame.
