Grammar/spelling police

Stock hight and Widepeak tires.

I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on 'hight' but he typed it twice with the same spelling.

So I'm on FB. WTH. This has got to be one of the stupidest things I ever saw.

Guy on Everyday Offroad TJ group posts "37's WAS the wrong choice." I kindly corrected him saying, "37's WERE the wrong choice." He evidently gets really pissed off and writes back, "Looser."

Some people are beyond help with grammar.

“By enlarge…”

Wow! I’ve never seen that till today.

That’s one I didn’t know the original meaning of (sailing into ‘by” the wind and with the wind “large”) until a few years although the more modern use (in general) I got.

I did not know the nautical background until you prompted me to look it up!

Whilst I bemoan the demise of "an", especially by professional talkers (i.e. football game announcers [you know who you are, Romo]); my real peeve is with "axe" vs "ask". For example, "Can I axe you a question?" (of course, you already axed me, but go ahead). Apparently this started in the Houston, TX area, but has grown exponentially, thanks to the internet. Now, I hear it everywhere. Of course, it is my civic duty to correct them.

Grammar joke: Guy is looking for a particular tool and calls all over town looking for it. Finally, one hardware store answers and says,"Yes, we have that in stock." Guy says, "Great, where are you at?" Hardware replies, "Don't you know better than to end a sentence with a preposition?" Guy answers, "Sorry, my mistake. Where are you at, a**hole?"

One word: Ebonics

Punctuation is a complete waste of time, apparently.

Based on his lack of punctuation, I'd surmise that he has about a dozen or so offspring. Because, you know...he never notices when his wife misses her period, either...:sneaky:
