One brake shield disappeared but I'm not going to replace that.

Not much of a beer guy anymore, but I shouldn't be drinking bourbon working on a car.

Not OSHA approved.

The caliper I thought may have been stuck turned by hand a little hard. The other side turned very easy and had the most brake pad of the 4 wheels. I'm not certain which is failing at that point.

I'll have her drive several weeks, then take the rear apart to inspect pads when she does her physician's assistant rotation trip to Africa.

Then I have a month to order rear calipers.

Time to start looking for a newer used car. 2011 was 15 years ago now. And she's driven thousands of miles for rotations, work, and a trip to California. Coast to coast car. Maine twice, CA once, Houston, South Dakota, Arkansas.

I had a guy that worked for me named Dave. This could have been his portrait.

Well, got all done, turned the caliper, I thought may not be working correctly, in a little with the stupid tool to fit over the new rotor and it started leaking.

I messed with the boot, but it wasn't torn. Then it slowed to a drop, then a drop every 10 min, then went to the store and got a new caliper and no drops after an hour. I'll probably change it but this turned into a project.

No mechanic would hire me to change brakes for 7 hours and some beer.

Jeeps aren't the only pain in the ass cars out there. Even though it's no longer leaking, I'll throw parts at it to make sure it's good.

Everything looks aluminum instead of cast iron.

The caliper brackets are cast aluminum. It said in the box not to over tighten. Glad I read that. My manual torque wrench can get on the high side.

That’s 5 years newer than my daily driver. I see newer / nicer /more expensive vehicles in the student parking lot when I drive by the local high school.

We keep cars for a long time here. I fix what I can. This one had a small plastic piece in the steering I had to fix. $7 but 3 hours on my head under the dash.

Not yet. She said she wants to drive it 3-4 years after graduating. Might change her mind if dad gets too old to fix it.

Boyfriend golfs. I'm sure he's never turned a wrench in his life.

I may need to have a son in law boot camp. Make them hold a flashlight while I yell at them.

My to be father in law took me on a tour of the crematorium he built as a contractor. He learned to run it when the morticians had a funeral. So he ran it when they were busy. Mentioned to me 2 could fit in it if necessary.

I took it as don't mess with my daughter.

Almost had to use it when some DB stalked my daughter in high school. It was that or a bag over the head, wake up in a field in Kansas naked.

Go to get in the pool the other day...heater is not running, so great, that means the pool is 86 deg......nope not even close. I guess I can't complain as it was installed in 2003. Sooooo $5600 later and new heat pump is coming next week...I know first world problems at least the new one will also chill the pool when necessary.
