Sway bar link questions

Hi everyone ,
My Jeep twin friend has a broken left front sway bar link . (2000 sport) Several questions
1.It looks pretty straight forward to change this out. Could 2 chics (Amy and me) do this job?
2.Would an 03 rubicon Sway bar link work on this(she could have Dave’s once he puts in his currie stuff)
3.Can she drive it while it’s broke?

Maybe I am missing something, but it looks like you just need a bushing and a Bolt & Nut.

You can still drive on it i has a broken away bar when I first bought mine but keep it slow like really slow and for the parts I’m not sure exactly but if you took apart the right sway bar link you could find everything you need

+1 all good to drive as the main purpose of the anti-sway bar, and links, is to reduce body roll. New links are inexpensive so you could buy new, or even post in the wanted section looking for links. As most members upgrade those, I'm sure there are plenty floating around this forum.

1. Yeah, you could absolutely change these out no problem! It's really just 2 nuts/bolts per side, thats it.
2. Yes Dave's old links would work, but a new Moog one is only $27 on Amazon, and probably close to that at the auto store. You could do the job in under an hour easily...maybe even under a half hour. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C59XGU/?tag=wranglerorg-20
3. She can drive it while its disconnected. If she were off-roading she would want to disconnect both! But yeah, the only thing she should be conscious of is that there will be more body roll on that side, meaning don't take sharp turns at high speeds.

I might have a new one laying around in my garage, or a good used one, or both. I'll look and they are yours/hers. I'm not sure if I have the bolts, if I do, they will go as well.

Looks like I still have them, didn't even have to look hard. All bolts too!

You are too sweet squatch! She visits the site periodically I think, but I don’t think she’s one to post. I’m lucky she lets me help her. She’s quite independent and asks very little. Honestly, I think she involves me with her jeep because she knows how much it means to me. But I will keep trying to get her to make an appearance . Sort of like @Dave K. wait, Maybe I’m too enabling and find all their answers here for them, they have no need to post .

We got the sway bar links in tonight on my friends tj, but took longer than 30 min. The bolt didn’t want to come out. We replaced both right away thanks to @S.McArthur for his generous donation. While we were under there, dave welded some exhaust brackets back up and investigated a transmission and steering fluid leak. More to come on that .

I have my new sway bar disconnects to install this weekend on my '05, and this post gives me hope. Unfortunately, I'm only working with a (beefy) bottle jack and jack stands. Will that be enough for this, or should I just bite the bullet and get a floor jack? I know I want one eventually, but I haven't had to use it quite yet. TIA!

If you're just doing swaybar end links you dont really need a jack other than maybe trying to get them to line back up if on uneven ground. Tires can stay on the ground.

:wave::thumbup: Hey! Good luck on your 05. I hope parts aren’t as rusty as the ones we were working on. Spraying your bolts with some kroil or knocker loose prior to starting might help. It took more muscle then Amy and I had to get ours to come loose.
