Car shopping

So, we ended up driving home a 2015 Honda CRV base model. It's a Kona Coffee color. Brand new tires, 36,587 miles. Former Honda employee lease car. I asked my wife to choose between that one and another base model CRV, and an absolutely loaded model that was a little more expensive. We discussed it for an hour, and chose the one she drove home. It's not my cup of tea, but she really loves it, so it's all good. Thanks to all for your comments and recommendations. I enjoyed the input!
Good choice.

Glad your wife is happy with her new car....that's what counts.
Oh......and you know the rule...."picture or it didn't happen".

Early morning, so it's rather dark. Almost looks black, but it's a dark brown in the sun. But this is Washington. We'll call it black.

Congratulations. It looks nice! I think you will really like it.
Thank you. To me, it's truly just a car. I mean, this is actually what "transportation" looks like! LOL The value is in the anticipated reliability, and the happiness that the wife has with it.

That's too new of a vehicle to be parked in your stable, it will be shunned by the other vehicles!:p:p
I can't be certain, but I think all the other cars we own are slowly rolling farther away from it... ;)
It's about as pedestrian as they come, short of being a FWD (this one is an AWD, which was one of our requirements). Still, it's shiny, it purrs ever so softly, and it's a decent ride. Extremely clean inside, too. She loves it.

Ehhhhh I don’t know if I would do that my man. Those sometimes can be the worst loan to get.
How so, @Starrs? I know that there is the potential for an individual to go on a spending spree, and therefore blow a lot of their equity in their house. To me, that seems like a high risk factor. However, as for me spending $$ on the TJ, I'm pretty much done with the spending, save for the E-locker and front brakes and ball joints (as far as I can tell). I'm looking at the HOL for a mild remodel of the house, truth be told. It's been 22 years since the last one. It could use a little freshening up...

I guess it just boils down to how much your using and the interest rate. I’ve just always been told not to borrow from your home equity. A loans a loan I guess.

I would tend to agree with that (not borrowing against your home). Truth be told, I could do the remodel with the credit card, as the overall expense won't be that great.
Hmmm...now you've got me rethinking this...

What about a Home Depot card. They run promotional deals all the time where it’s 0% interest for 24 mos. just have to ask when they are running the specials. My Fiancé did that with her homes appliances, and just made sure to pay them off before the year was up. Can’t beat 0%

Now that is an option I hadn't considered. I think I'll look into that. Thanks for the tip, Chief!

My wife and I did the Home Depot 0% interest for 24 months when we did a major remodel on our barn. Changed it from a horse barn to bar and Game room. Worked great! I don't think you have to wait for them to run a special, just ask them for the 24 month with 0% interest. You just can't be late on any of the payments or you'll have to pay their interest rate. Like Starrs said, just be sure to pay it off before the dead line or you'll have to pay all that interest. And the last payment will be a little different then all the other payments, like two weeks earlier then all the other ones so pay close attention to the very last one....They change that one, hoping you won't notice so they get you and then you have to pay all that interest. Other then that, it was great!! Use their money to remodel interest FREE! :)
