I’m a new Jeep owner (less than a month) and I need to get a tow bar that can mount on my set up. I attached a picture to show what the front is like. I am not trying to drop 1000 on a blue ox set up but around 2-300. That’s, if I don’t need a different bumper. Any advice will be appreciated. If anyone else has done this set up, did you have to do anything specific on brake set up? Thanks gents/ gals!

You'll need some way of attaching the tow bar to the frame. That tube bumper won't give you many options, so frame mounted brackets should be used.

I found this setup on CL for $300.

I have been looking around and wish I could find that on CL. I figure the bumper needed to come off but, I didn’t know if it be best to get a bumper that has brackets for one of these or go with some brackets. I’m not in a huge rush but, have a big trip in June so want to figure it out by then. Thanks!

Definitedly not a $300 solution but I use a Roadmaster Sterling towbar that ties to the eyelets on my bumper directly. I did not want to install an additional frame mounted bracket because it would hang down low and degrade the approach angle substantially. It has worked very well although it is more like a $1000 solution than a $300 solution. Add to that the auxillary braking system which was another $1000.

I just bought a Curt tow bar for $127 from etrailer. But I'm using the stock bumper. The big cost is the AUX brake set up — I'm not pulliing behind my motorhome w/o a brake. The Invisibrake setup is like $1200. But, like you, I am not putting $1k in a tow bar.

I ended up finding a Roadmaster Falcon 2 for $250 on FB marketplace. I like the bar but, now I either get a base plate ($375) or a new bumper and adapters. I grabbed a EAC aftermarket bumper but, can’t wven get the bottom to torx bolts off. Used an entire can of penetration oil and heat on the bolts. Not budging. I’m close to just getting the base plate even tho it’s twice what I paid for the number and doing that later. I’m not paying a shop like $200 to take a bumper off so, stuck in the moment and have no time to mess with it

I have the base plate setup for the Falcon 2 tow bar. Not sure what shipping would be, but for $50 + shipping it would get you by.

Fantastic offer there! I used to have that same Roadmaster setup. Unfortunately, the OP would still have to get those pesky bottom bumper bolts out to use those brackets.

How does the base plate attach? I will still be in this shitty situation with the torx?
