Anybody have cruise control?

I’ll buy the components lol
Make sure they will fit. It’s from a 1999 4.0L 5 speed. Not sure if they are all interchangeable or not. And I would need your steering wheel switch blanks as I would need to pull the switches out of my wheel. All I pulled so far is all the under hood components

I just recently took my cruise out. Had to make room for the PSC hydro assist remote reservoir.
Not really. ;)

Looks good. I thought about relocating it but I think I used it once in the past 20 years with this jeep so it wasn’t an issue ditching it.

So my steering wheel doesn’t even have the piece to put in cruise control. Also why does my Jeep Sahara have a different dash then most the tjs, it has ac sliders instead of dials...

97-98 non cruise TJ's had a one piece trim that went over the airbag and out to the rim, mine did as well. I bought a 98 airbag and trim from DeadJeeps that came out a cruise equipped jeep. I have not looked at it close enough to guarantee it but I suspect I could modify the original trim to work with the cruise buttons and filler pieces or swap the trim and go that route but it was cheap enough I just bought the package. The earlier models also had the slider vs dial for HVAC system I believe they changed from a cable to vacuum system.

I also have a 97 Wrangler with “slider” HVAC controls. And I constantly wish I had cruise control. This is the first vehicle I have had in a long time without it. What (if I may ask)did you pay for everything you needed? I don’t think I have anything at all. Thanks TJ

The clock spring, airbag/trim, switches 167USD the vacuum solenoid, bracket, throttle cable I bough at a local Pick a Part for 12CAD. Unfortunately the first set of switches were misrepresented as 97-98's so I ended up buying a second set off ebay for an additional 55USD. Plans are to sell the 99-02 switches and hopefully recover that extra cost.

I’ve installed it. Took me maybe 15 minutes minus a road test.
Pop the switch blocks out of the steering wheel, pop switches in. (You’ll need to remove the airbag.)

Install the module under the dash, plug it into the vacuum lines, wiring harness, and run the throttle cable.

No PCU programming is required, so it can 100% be done at home.
Which module under the dash are you referring to? I'm trying to add this to my 1999 TJ and I've done everything. Correct Cruise control switches for my 1999 that were tested and working properly, Throttle cable & Vacuum lines hooked up, Servo plugged in and nothing. Even bought a NEW MOPAR servo, thinking the servo might be bad and still nothing. Are there any wires inside the jeep behind the steering column that need to be hooked up? If so, what do they need to be hooked up to?

So to make it all work it needs the wiring, buttons, clock spring, vacuum solenoid, the bracket for the solenoid and the throttle cable. Start by checking for the plug for the solenoid, then check the plug to the ECM for the proper wiring and finally check for the correct clock spring before ordering anything. Some wranglers came pre-wired. Some also shipped with proper clock spring even if it was not optioned with cruise. The thread I followed is actually from another site I suspect some here are not fans of but the info was good. If you PM me I'll send you a link to it. My TJ had all the wiring but I did need the clock spring and because of the year in addition to the mentioned parts I bought a new air bag with trim. The 98 had a one piece trim that extended to the rim of the steering wheel. The buttons replace the ears from the airbag to the to rim. Also make sure you get the short Y wiring harness that goes from the clock spring to each button set it will usually sell with the buttons as a set when buying used.
How can I check the proper wiring to the ECM? I've got a 1999 that I've added all cruise control parts, but the switches, even though they are correct for my 1999 model year TJ, does get power to the solenoid. Light for Cruise Control has yet to even flash and I'm certain, it's just not getting power from the ECM.

Oops, I meant install the module under the hood. Too late to edit...

The only thing you need to do is plug the switches in on the steering column. There's a pigtail floating around the engine compartment that also gets plugged in, but it seems you've already found that

Dang! I was hoping there was a module. Yeah, I found the plug for the cruise control servo, but still not getting any power to it. At this point, I’d just like the see the cruise control light come on my dash. If there is one in a million TJ that won’t have what the other 999,999 have, it will be mine.

Any chance I could get the other site you are talking about here? I have two 98 Tj's. One has cruise and I want to change it to one that doesn't.

Yeah I don't get it. I have it in most of my cars and have never used it once. Some of my newer cars even have the kind that slows you down and speeds up in traffic and I have still yet to use it.
My cruise controls keep me from getting speeding tickets. One less thing to worry about, especially on the highway. Set it and forget it. I’m sure the people in your vehicles would appreciate you using it. Surging faster and slower is very annoying. My wife is bad about it, so I force her to use the cruise wherever she can, so I don’t get tired of hitting the back of my head against the head rest.

My wife's CRV has advanced cruise control and she has never used it other than the time I hit the buttons for her. She also doesn't like using the automatic A/C and instead adjusts the temp and fan manually. I've told her when her lease is up we should save some money and get her a extremely basic car :ROFLMAO:

Lol. Maybe she would prefer an early model Honda Accord? They are reliable and if your lucky, see if you can find one with a manual transmission. 😂

Ha getting her to drive a manual for a daily would be a tough battle. Her previous car was a 2006 civic that got T-boned. It had 155k on the clock and only needed a starter our whole ownership. She wants her next car to have a 3rd row because she thinks our kids should be allowed to bring friends on trips to Lake Tahoe ect. Her lease is up early next year so it's about time to start looking.

Well, our wives did go through child birth for us. I guess, getting them the car they want is the least we can do. Good luck, with your hunt!!! Third row also means your wife wants your kids with her, at all times. Even if it means taking all of the other kids as well. She sounds like a great one.
