Why the 2004 to 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited “LJ” is the holy grail of all Jeeps

Here's mine

Articles like this aren’t doing me any favors when I’m ready to buy an LJR next year 🙃 Nothing says $$$$$ like “Holy Grail of Jeeps.”

For me they look a bit off. But once I got inside one and looked around they look ideal. Same with a CJ-8, tho I've never been inside a running Scrambler.

For me they look a bit off. . . .

LJ's don't look "off" to me at all. I've owned several jeeps through the years, and although I never had the opportunity to own a CJ-6 or CJ-8, and to this day my favorite open jeeps are the CJ-6, CJ-8 and the TJ Unlimited.

Jeepster commando is awesome. I really like them as well. Watch this video when you get a chance.

There was a guy on one of the other Jeep forums that built the Commando and CJ front end out of fiberglass for the TJ. The commando front end on his LJ looked badass. He even built the version with the tachometer in the hood.

Watching this makes me miss mine, I had to sell it due to being young and life happening. I wish in retrospect I hadn’t - they may not be “iconic” but they are a great classic Jeep product.

Truly classic indeed. You are lucky to have had one! The TJ/CJ hardtop shape reminds of the shape of the Jeepster hardtop, in some ways I really like how AMC/Chrysler carried some of the things till even 2006.

Functionality may be a matter of opinion but the fact is that those are the best looking Jeeps ever made.

Jeeps, heck any open top 4X4, are like motorcycles to me. I wish I had one of each ever made. As mentioned earlier, the first gen Commandos were sweet. The unique burble of the odd-fire V6 with nice exhaust as it picks it's way through the woods is practically delicious.

But I love first gen Land Cruisers, and Bronchos too. Probably for the same reason I love all the different brands and models of motorcycles; with the doors off the experience is very similar. First gen Blazers and Samurais are close, but they have doors...usually.

I had a nice silver ‘84 Scrambler and enjoyed it alot. It was my hunting truck. But it was spartan compared to my ‘02 Tj. I’m liking my Tj better, but then I don’t hunt anymore, and being comfortable is more important. This is kinda what she looked like but with stock bumpers and wrangler radials
