I'm looking for a scope in the $500ish range, fixed power between 16x and maybe 20x. 30mm ish tube diameter, 50mm ish objective, reticle to be determined, and the kicker is it's going on my NTM Daystate Air Ranger in .25 cal so I need to be able to focus it down to 30 feet.

Looking for bright clear optics as the most important criteria.

Fairly crap video of what the gun is capable of.

 
I absolutely, positively have nothing but good things to say about Vortex Optics.

It's probably a bit over the price you want to pay, but these guys stand behind every scope they make like no other manufacturer I've ever seen.

I'm not going to spend more on the scope than I did on the gun. The closest any of those that I looked at will correct the parallax error is 75 feet or twice what I need.
 
You have some interesting criteria; 16-20x fixed and focus to 30 ft. SWFA has both 16 and 20X fixed, not sure if they focus to 30 ft, and the mil quad reticle might be thick for pellet gun shooting. Any reason you need a fixed power?

i got mixed feed back from a lot of people about vortex, though i did end up buying one of there products.

a vortex scout 3-7x EER for forward mounting on my ruger gunsite scout 308. ive ranged tested it and taken it on a few hunts. shoots where i point it and has had no problems so far!

I have a 16x fixed SWFA being mounted to the .25 Marauder that I'll be test driving here shortly. It will focus down to 10 meters I believe.

It was recommended by my tuner but he and I both came up empty for a good fixed for the Air Ranger. The reticle is fine and I'm used to that style.

We're trying to avoid the parallax error that is common to a lot of scopes when you get into the variable power versions. I figured out very quickly that the scope on the .22 Marauder was the limitation of how well it shoots.

I've not seen a variable without parallax adjustment, it just varies as to how they do it and where the adjustment is. A lot of the top air rifle scopes have the big side wheel for parallax adjustment and I'm just not into that.

That looks pretty good. I'll run it by my tuner and see what he thinks. Do you have any comparison as to how bright the optics are? That was the severe limitation to the BSA I have. If a ground squirrel ran under a pallet, I could see him clearly with the binoculars but could barely make out what was squirrel and what was dirt at the higher magnification on the BSA.
 
It is as clear as the Vortex Viper 6.5-20 I ran for a while. BSA is generally trash so I would assume confidently that the Mueller is better. On 14 power I was able to easily see a 14" by 8" steel target and make hits at 240 yds. I have blasted ground squirrels at 50 plus yds in early morning and early evening light without issue. This is with the 4.5-14 I have, not the 8-32 I listed.

My educated guess is that a scope at that price point and at that mag range would be good from 8 to about 25ish power. Generally lower end optics sacrifice optimal clarity at the extreme ends of it's range. Even the Vortex PST 6-24 (I have used 2 of them) loses clarity and tunnels at anything above 21 power and that is a $900 optic.

All I have used is their PST and Razor scopes, which are absolutely amazing. The Razor has such good glass that I'd easily put it up there with a Nightforce or Shmiddy (for a fraction of the price).

You should look up govx and expericity. They give crazy discounts to military. My buddy just bought a 3000 dollar vortex scope for 50 percent off. They have nice deals on aim point and eotechs. Govx has 4wheelparts there. Should check it out.
