Differential noises

So im working on the rear drums and heard an odd noise when i was moving the axel shaft.

This is the noise that was here. i havent put anything back on because these suck anyway and i dont need more to do if i dont need to be worried about it. If i could guess its something big to worry about.
Sounds like gears and that terrifies me. Any thoughts?

My jeep is sitting the the drive all taken apart. Im at my end of knowledge and dont know what to do next.

Should i open up the diff and take pics?

Sure you can pull the cover, it ain't difficult. If you pull the plug and stick your finger in there is there fluid?

There was fluid but not enough for sure. i had to reach in pretty far to find any.

You will need to replace the spider gears. You have a Dana 35 axle. Not difficult, but if you are not mechanically inclined or not comfortable pulling stuff apart, have somebody else do it. You can search for youtube videos.

Your ring gear looks fine from what I can see, so I think replacing the spider gears should resolve your problem. Obviously inspect everything else while you have it out.

Expensive. Since you have a Dana 35 axle, if you plan on going with a locker, do the super 35.

I personally always use Revolution gears, but Spicer and Yukon are also good.

Take it to a shop, have them re-do the gears, and if you don't have lockers, now is the time to add them!

For the time being ill just be doing the stock spider gears just to get back on the road since this is my daily.

Ill be saving for the super 35 though. As soon as this isnt my daily ill be getting it done.
