DD or Trail Rig?

Well, I guess I should provide more detail,

my TJ is my first car, she’s the daily, must drive to the trail, and get back home to go to work in the morning. Driven her in some serious rain and on 105* days. Longest trip so far was 4 hours each way, took it like a champ. As far as y’all that are saying “Sunday coffee getter” I get it, this is mine. She’s a “show car” never actually gone to a show with a prize, but she’s loads of fun to drive when the weathers nice and is absolutely loved in the elementary school parking lot.

I also work from home but it is technically my DD. I also get out on the trails with it quite frequently. I love it for how well it does both. With my rack and my trailer, I can haul almost everything I need to and it's great for taking my mountain bike to the trails, my kayaks to the water and the family like to ride with me when the tops off for the summer. Not to mention it fits in all the tight parking spots.
These things are killer in parking lots, park anywhere u want, and the turning radius is part of why I bought it. Still makes me giggle every time I do a full lock turn.

Its a toy, although I certainly could drive it daily. I've wanted a Jeep since I was in High School, plus I *REALLY* miss the '63 GMC 1 ton I grew up with. Since I've owned my other "dream car" for 20 years ('85 MBZ 300SD), I decided to scratch the Jeep itch. The only problem now is 3 cars and only a 2 car garage, thinking about a carport for the Jeep. I've only had it 3 months, so I'm still fixing things and doing some upgrades. Planning a 1,500 mile roadtrip to a shooting event in October if said event doesn't get canceled/postponed yet again. I'm tired of walking or having to have somebody else schlep my crap up to the firing line - not this year!

retired from DD duty after near ten years and is now strictly recreational

It's a fun second vehicle. There are days like today when we take it on the trails around the cabin, and then there may be days when we take it for a fun ride on mountain roads and then there are days I will drive it to work. My daily driver is a 4x4 Nissan Frontier King Cab.

Mine is just a second vehicle. Honda is my dd. I use the jeep to go to the beach and occasional camping trip. So not a dd and not a trail rig. I would love to trailer it out west some day though.

Basically daily driver. One week I drive the truck and the following week the LJ. Close to equal split between highway and city miles. There may be more practical vehicles to use as a daily driver, but I love driving the Jeep.

Mine is a family cruiser, 3rd vehicle. I like seeing my wife jump in it and drive our kids to a friends house or run an errand with a smile on her face.

Daily driver, weekend warrior. Clocked 90 miles in my back yard national forest. Blew the dust out today. Ready for the commute to work tomorrow.

I really like this question. It’s interesting to know what everyone else is using their TJ for. I’ve been on the forum for over a year now, and while I don’t post much, in reading daily. Mine was purchased as a third car for fun for the family. My wife and kids absolutely love it as a way to get to the lake on the weekend or go out for ice cream. The lease in my DD came due right about the same time we started working from home due to Corona so I haven’t bothered to get another DD just yet. I’m confident the TJ will take me anywhere - I did a 700 mile round trip a few weeks ago and I have another one for about 800 miles coming up this weekend - but I’ll probably get another lease of some sort whenever I have to start putting actual daily mileage on something again.

I say forget the lease, get dual tops for the TJ (Hard for bad weather) and run it.
