Had to convert from KMs to MPG (USA Gallon) and am getting an average of 15.5 -16 MPG using 91RON this is all non HWY, city and suburb driving only.
Not sure if this is good or bad? not worried about squeezing the wallet on fuel costs as I knew TJ,s were thirsty before I got one.
91 RON is our standard or regular Gas with 95 and 98 RON for older VVT and performance engines It runs fine on 91 with no pinging.

Cheers

'05 TJ Manual trans: 19 mpg average on highways when I drove from Davenport to Texas.
'03 TJ Auto trans: 18 mpg when driven from Chicago to Texas.

'14 JK Auto trans: 20 mpg from Pittsburg to Texas

So I am running rich then?

I did a lot of combustion system flushing and cleaning on mine, part of my way of tune ups. If you are a hands-on gearhead, you know what I meant.

Running rich: I also try to smell the end-pipe when engine is already warm on cold weather temps, just to make sure that it burns good. Learned that trick from my old folks.

My stock '01 TJ 4.0L manual w/32" tires (I calibrated the speedo) is getting 19 mpg HWY and '21 HWY when I leave CA.
On a trip from San Diego to Jacksonville the stock '11 JK 3.8L auto was getting 19 mpg HWY. When towing a small trailer across country the Jeep was getting 21 mpg consistently once I left CA.
Even my '98 XJ 33" tires, 4.56 gears, manual, w/6" lift was getting 17 mpg once I left CA.

33's but stock otherwise.... I get between 14 and 16 in the city and up to 18-19 on the highway. I do live in an area with 45mph speed limits and lights every mile however so "city" is a relative term.

I've very recently replaced the plugs, ignition rail and the O2 sensors. Before that I was in the 12-13 range....

97 4.0, 5-Spd, 4.56 gears, 3.5" Lift, 116K Miles:
33" Tires: 19 HWY, Stop and go and HWY: 18
35" Tires: 17 HWY, Stop and go and HWY: 16

4 inch lift with 33s stock 4.11s and I get 14 city and 17-18 mpg hwy at 65-70 mph. How many miles do you have? Around 100k I would change o2 sensors and spark plugs. Also change out diff and trans fluids. A good high mileage synthetic oil change too.

I have nowhere to go on a hwy just yet and have lights about every 1/2 mile or less, cant get this 6 speed higher than 4th speeding! our speed limit in this "nanny country" is 50kph in the city and 60kph around the city that's 31mph and 37mph :( with duel red light /speed cameras on almost all traffic lights! you have to speed here and brake fast else you are better off walking :)

What CA fuel watered down? lol Outside rush hour (hours) I found CA driving pretty good on the Hwys, actually Perth is a lot like a mix of Long Beach and San Diego without the Walmart crazies :)

Ugh.... sounds a little restrictive over there..... Our freeways in the Phoenix area all have 65mph limits in and around town... if you're doing under 80 you'll get run over! It's a good way to get the carbon out of your block!

Our max speed is 68mph freeway highway and open roads, I have driven a fair chunk of USA and our speed limits make no sense to anyone other than those who drive around with white gloves and a straw hat summer time. :)

15-16 MPG city driving is very acceptable with a TJ. I doubt you are running rich unless you are blowing an SES light with O2 sensor codes.
4.0 usually run a bit on the lean side,
I get around 10-12MPG on the highway and 8 MPG around town, but I have a lot of mods.

When my Rubicon was bone stock I could manage 16-18 MPG on the highway as long as I kept it @ 65mph, anything over that and the mpg dropped.

School zones here are 25 mph get caught 20 kph over and loose your license, Its so easy to zone out at 60kph and miss the 40kph school zone sign
Fishtaco. City driving is not a good place for mpg check.
I think you need to go for a vacation to get it right :)
Have some elderly family serious health issues else I would be off country every weekend! Did you know a lot of Australia is on a 9 day fortnight workwise, I get every second Friday off so a 3 day weekend, if I work it i get double time pay all day. I go car camping a lot and with 4 weeks allocated vacation per year not including public holidays xmas and Easter so we go overseas every year, Not this year though :(
.

We suck at work vacation perks here in the USA.
I have a brother in Sweden and they have good work perks like you guys.
I wish I can go and retire in Australia or New Zealand. Maybe Papua New Gunea.
