I’ve got a p0431 code on my 06 LJ that comes and goes. It doesn’t seem to have anything to do with when I fill up the gas tank but It seems to pop on when I step on the gas a little more. I have an exhaust leak somewhere near the manifold so i’m assuming that’s what’s causing it? I just wanna make sure that an exhaust leak at the manifold before the pre cats would cause it or if an exhaust leak between the pre cats and main cat would throw the code? I’m just confused what the pre cat o2 sensors are sensing to throw the code. Thanks in advance.

That would b the post cat sensor for cylinders 4,5,6. The problem could very well b the exhaust leak near the manifold you described. That's where I would start. If you fix the leak and continue to get the code that rear small cat is probably no longer as efficient as its suppose to b..
