I have been following a thread from Sunday by MXZ800, "Companies you won't deal with". I will say that there were several surprises, but mostly these are companies that I don't deal with myself. I would like to know the national companies that you DO like to deal with? What companies go out of their way to provide exceptional customer service?

You go through a lot of windshields I take it?
Safelite windshields.
When I lived in Albuquerque, I had a Safelite windshield (lowest bidder) put in my work car. During the install the Safelite installer was chatty and started talking about driving in the southwest was hard on auto glass. I asked if some windshields were better than others, and he said windshields were required to meet a minimum rating. I asked him how their windshields rated, and he said they were near the minimum. This was 15 years ago so maybe they are better now, but I stopped using them after his comment.

That may be, I dunno. My experience was this: In about 2001, they replaced the windshield on my old Mercedes. Fast forward to late 2016. A crack unexpectedly developed at the edge of same. I took it in to their shop to have it replaced again. They saw it was theirs, and asked me if I owned the car when it was last replaced. "Yes". It took some digging on their part, but they found the original work order - still on paper that had been moved from their old location. When they pulled the windshield, they saw that expanding rust had caused the crack, blamed their own installation, and warranteed the replacement. They sent the car to the body shop next door on their dime to have the rust removed and painted, provided a rental car while all this was going on, etc, etc.

Customer for life!

I did not have a good experience with Safelite. When they installed my windshield, they broke my antenna. When I informed them, they denied breaking it. (they installed the windshield when I was at work) This was one of those old style metal antennas.

Had to check that one.
Yum, Lusitania's!

Cornwell, Mac, & Snap-On. Can't tell you how many times I've gotten something replaced no questions asked. I had a Mac adjustable air grinder (15 years old probably) lock up on me a few months ago. I threw it in the back of my truck & waited to see a random Mac truck parked somewhere. Saw it one day parked outside of a shop, pulled up, showed it to him, & he handed me a new one. Can't beat it.

There's a Cornwell distribution center down the road from me, I took an old angled head 3/8" ratchet that eventually gave up the ghost. The guy tossed it in the trash & gave me a new one.

That's how you keep customers. If more businesses operated like this, more businesses would be in this thread.

For me, it is whoever makes Crown Royal. Like the hot sauce commercial lady says, "I put that sh!t on everything!"

I have my boat and camper insured with Progressive. We started a vacation a few years back by having an awning blown off. I called Progressive and they sent an adjuster out that morning, on a Saturday. He had already made arrangements for me to have the awning replaced at a local RV shop and when we pulled in it looked like a Nascar pitstop. 4 or 5 guys had a new awning installed in about 45 minutes and I was on my way back to the campground. They earned a customer for life with that one experience. I have my Jeep insured with Hagerty for the value of the vehicle. I've never used them (and hope I don't) but if I do I hope they are as easy to work with.
