Need suggestions on a quieter street tire

Well I just purchased a 2005 LJ with a 4inch lift and 35x12.5x15 tires. The jeep has the 3.73 rear. I’d like to drop down to 33’s with a more road friendly quieter tire. I have 35’inch Mickey Thompson’s on there now and they are a heavy loud tire. This LJ will not be seeing off road and it’s a low mileage 60k Queen. I just need a nice quieter street tire.
Any suggestions?
I have a 2003 TJ, 33x12.5.15, and I run Firestone Destination AT’s.very quiet!

I put a set of Falken AT 3w,s on mine and I was shocked at just how much road noise I "Didnt have anymore" even going past roadwork concrete barriers on the highway which always bounce the noise! I am sold on these cheaper tires big time :)

I sell tires every day (not Sundays)...
Any all season tire is what you need. That's all.
Brand?.....who cares.
The round kind.

An all terrain is marginally better off road than an all season.

The problem...
Is size...
33x12.50x15...
Nearly 99.9 percent of what you'll find will be an All terrain tire
The quietest tire I could tell you as a light truck tire is a BFGoodrich TA Sport.
I sell tons. The problem is to get a 33" you have to get them in a 20" rim.
They only do a 235/75 in a 15".

31.8 is the tallest in a 16"/17/18"

Two other
Hankook Dynapro AT2 is not really an All terrain in the General Grabber/BfG AT realm..

But it's an ultra mild AT tire.
They do a 33x12.50x15

The Kenda Klever AT has a 33x12.50x15
very quiet!!!

Good luck
Thanks! your knowledge on tires is really needed here. So does anyone make a 33’inch on a 15’inch rim in a slightly narrower width ? 11?10?

I’m sure that there are quieter tires out there but I’ve been really happy with the X3s. I use my jeep like you describe and dropping from the 35’s to the 33 10.50’s was a great decision for me.

That's even slimmer picking.
The BFG All terrain has a 33x10.50x15

The only other one I know of that is a real tame type tire...
Kenda Kever RT(rough terrain)

There might be others but off top of head that's all I know
in a tame non mud tire.

Another vote for BFG AT K2O. Plus they are a traction rated snow tire for areas that have chain restrictions in the winter. I’ve run them on every 4x4 rig I’ve had including my F350 that hauled a heavy slide in camper. Great wear when rotated, quite on the highway and good traction off road except for maybe the sticky clay type mud we get where I live. I try and avoid that stuff anyways it’s such a pain in the ass to clean off!

They suck in any kind of mud. As does every other AT tire.

I sell many BFG tires and as a company they're one of my favorites. Not for the AT or MT but their car tires. Their car tires are excellent and a couple models are not yet duplicated....amazingly!!!
(The tire world is a copy cat business)

An "AT" tire (any brand) is really an appearance perception.
They're no better off road than an All-season tire.
Tell me one area an "AT" just completely obliterates and All Season tire.

Deep Mud? NO! They both suck.

Mud with hard bottom? Uuhhh...slicks can propel through that.

Hard pack snow/ice? Most All season tires are better. There's just more biting edges.

Deep snow? See deep mud above. They both suck!

Sand? Both equal.
Deep sand? You wouldn't use either in deep sand.

Sidewall protection? Again if one needs true sidewall protection because the rocks are that hazardous you won't be using either.

Wet grass with hard bottom.
See hard packed snow/ice.

Wet grass with soft.
See real mud. Both are in trouble.

Here's a statement you won't hear.
Bobby is stuck over there in his All Seasons but wait until John gets here with his All Terrains. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

On road performance
All season's are better.

NVH
All seasons are better.

Appearance?
An AT definitely gets a nod over an AS. Nothing remotely attractive about an All season tire.

The BFG AT is a 10ply with a much higher load rating then most if not all the all season tires out there making them a tougher tire. Also considered a traction tire for winter use while all seasons are not.
When aired down I’ve never had any issue with them in sand.

I love my General Grabber AT2s (31s) They are quiet, good on road (wet and dry), decent on trails/light off roading, and are wearing well. I would definitely buy Generals again.

The Toyo ATs on my truck drone and I will not buy them again.

For your Super Duty they're 10 ply...but I thought we were talking about 33's on 15inch wheels...no? Those are 6 ply.

I sell these all the time and I wouldn't call their 10 ply version "tough"
Those plies help the sidewall prevent flex (an enemy of a tire carrying a heavy load)
Tough in my world is sharp jagged rocks that could ruin your Achilles tendon. I just had to replace a tire with a slashed sidewall on a Super Duty. 285 75 16 10 ply from some biting gravel.

The 3 peak snow rating...now that's a skewed thing...eh'?
It has to accelerate 10 percent better in medium packed snow?
I live in the rust belt and I'm not sure what the fuck medium packed snow means? Medium packed? 8 inches (a medium snow storm to me) packed? Half packed snow? Fluffy? Wet?
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
No stopping, no cornering, no ice tests.
These 4x4's can get moving forward with some pretty shitty tire, no?

Moreover I sell some tires without said rating that absolutely outperform those with the cute little stamp.

Now I love BFG...as a whole.
USA made is extremely important to me. I've recommended some Kenda's on here which is Korean...and that pisses me off but it's only when cost is the utmost important factor.

If you love BFG AT's great. You should love whatever tire you buy.

That said in the end an AS vs. AT tires are a wash. They are both capable of the same thing and both suck at the same things.

I have General Grabber X3's on my TJ and I find they are a very quiet MT tire! I also have General Grabber HTS60 on my CR-V, and am very happy with those!

Didn’t know the different sizes had different ply’s, I stand corrected. The traction symbol may be a farce, but it makes the difference here in the west of having to put chains on or not(legally) over the mountain passes. I do know though that on multiple vehicles over the years I’ve put a couple hundred thousand miles on BF AT’s and never have had a problem. Including thousands of miles in Mexico over sharp rocks and sand with a 2,500lb camper in the truck, dozens of 30”+ snowstorms over the mountain passes we have here in the west, and many days in the dunes with my FJ55 and Tacoma’s in Idaho and the Oregon coast. So yes I can recommend them first hand and will continue to run them since they have worked well for me. OP is looking for a quieter street tire and they fit what he is asking for. Ymmv.
