I think it goes on the switch itself. Circled in red. Just replaced mine few months ago and there was a single black wire that went on it. My is a 97.

SSTJ, I got the P1389 Tuesday evening and I'm wondering if you had anymore issues with yours? In my case, I had installed a toggle switch on the wire between the PCM and ASD relay several years ago, so that's where I started with troubleshooting. It seems like my cheap toggle may have wore out...

I have a very similar issue. Although, without the headlights on when I apply the brakes my odometer completely goes out. When the lights are on, it only dims. Haven’t noticed if it affects my dome light but I have a 97’ so no MFS, it works off the headlight switch. Been like this for sometime...
