Should I fill the coolant reservoir after coolant flush?

‘02 TJ 4.0. I looked in my reservoir recently and was appalled at all the gunk. I think when I had the block plugs replaced recently they put in the wrong coolant. I’m following this thread https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/how-to-flush-the-cooling-system-on-your-jeep-wrangler-tj.1737/...

    EVAP leak after rebuild

Sounds good - honestly, I'll probably just replace all those lines before I pay to have it smoke tested (especially since I can just do that in the driveway). Are they pretty standard lines to get an auto parts store?

    EVAP leak after rebuild

Yes - great point thanks for clarifying. But wouldn't carb cleaner test still work? My understanding is that the fuel vapors are being pulled back into the combustion chamber via vacuum, so it would pull in the carb cleaner the same way. No?

    EVAP leak after rebuild

Thanks - I have some carb cleaner, I'll give this a try (carefully). Otherwise - to the shop it is, from what I can tell it doesn't seem like it's feasible to borrow / rent a smoke machine.

    EVAP leak after rebuild

Do I basically just spray it on different hoses in the evap system and see if there's a change in engine speed?

    EVAP leak after rebuild

I know this issue has come up on previous threads, but still not sure where to go with this. This is on my '02 TJ that I restored last year (i.e. new frame). Engine has 70k miles. Didn't do much engine/trans stuff except new rear main seal and clutch. When we bolted it all back together the...

    Transmission drain plug leaking

Thanks all - ordered mtl and pipe sealant on Amazon, will swap it out and hopefully stop this leak this week.

    Transmission drain plug leaking

Thanks guys - I think I’ll try the pipe sealant as I’ve heard the tape can sometimes get into the gearbox and cause issues. Probably not but whatever. Redline MTL - just checking but it looks like it comes as full synthetic GL-4, 75W80 is that right?

    Transmission drain plug leaking

Just started, apparently. Definitely gear oil, and I'm fairly certain it's weeping from the drain plug. Found a previous thread where someone used permatex thread sealant - is this recommended? The gear oil is new (1000 miles) since I did the frame swap earlier this year, but thinking since...

Looks like I sprung a leak

Well spoke too soon... Dropped it off at the shop for repair and they called me back saying they're pretty sure the rear plugs are leaking as well. So gearbox will have to come off to do all of them. Un-freaking-believable that this is happening right now. I can picture in my mind a short few...

Looks like I sprung a leak

Replying to myself... shop estimated 3 hours of labor to get in there and access / replace the plugs (parts are cheap). So probably looking at $300-400.

Looks like I sprung a leak

Found a puddle of coolant on my driveway this am. Dripping down from the bell housing and rear of the engine. Tracked it along the driver's side of the engine, and I can just get a glimpse where it looks like it's leaking out of the top of a freeze plug under the manifold. Not a lot, haven't...

In the midst of frame replacement, I have an issue with the track bar

OK so we looked at this closely today and figured pressing the track bar flat wasn't going to work. And pretty tough to weld a plate on there and redrill the hole. So instead, we cut the bar in the long straight section, fabricated a steel sleeve that could fit over the cut ends and adds about...

In the midst of frame replacement, I have an issue with the track bar

That’s a great idea - when we go back to the shop we’ll take some better measurements and then try and flatten it out a little.

In the midst of frame replacement, I have an issue with the track bar

That logic makes sense - thing is the frame has to be right because the motor mounts fit, and they're close by to the track bar and also a lateral dimension. So then that pretty much narrows it down to the track bar. It's the original track bar, and the vehicle had never been wrecked, not even...
