    ElectricWizards 2000 TJ Sport Build

Glad to hear others are benefiting from my write-up! 👍 It seemed so simple and they're mostly built for it, just seems ridiculous to me they don't go all the way at the factory.

Cracked Ear on Engine for Top Bellhousing Bolt

During my research I came to the conclusion that most shops are reluctant to take on a job like this due to the block being cast iron. The ones that are will charge big $$$. I plan on brazing it up with silicon bronze whenever I feel like pulling the engine. Running it as is so far has been fine...

Cracked Ear on Engine for Top Bellhousing Bolt

Eh, might still be fine, but I'd be uncomfortable about it personally. The dowel pins are important and I'd imagine a missing bolt in that spot would cause problems. One of the few threads I found on this topic was of a guy in a similar situation to yours, with a stripped and missing dowel...

Cracked Ear on Engine for Top Bellhousing Bolt

No problems so far, but man every time I remember it I'm sure bummed/pissed.

Cracked Ear on Engine for Top Bellhousing Bolt

I've ran it this way since this posting without any issues. As long as your two dowel bolts and the other E12 are good you should be okay. The bell housing on the AX15 and NV trans are also replaceable; I'm not sure if the auto bellhouaings are.

    Sahara 4L dash light

The sensor in the transfer case only tells whether its in 4WD and not whether it's in high or low, so the dash light will turn on in either 4WD mode.

Cracked Ear on Engine for Top Bellhousing Bolt

The bolts on the dowel pins are good and the other top bolt seems fine as well. This is likely what I'm going to do until I can fix it.

Cracked Ear on Engine for Top Bellhousing Bolt

I had my transmission out in order to fix some leaks, and upon reinstalling it while torquing up the top-driver side bellhousing bolt, one of the E12 ones, the ear on the engine it threads to cracked clean off the block. The previous owner at some point had replaced the E12 bolts with regular...

Steering Box Input Seal Replacement Earlier this year my Jeep started acting rather naughty and began noticeably marking it's territory. A 4.0 leaking oil is nothing out of the ordinary, but in this case, the leak was much farther forward than where the usual engine leaks would show up. For me...

Wheel Hub Replacement Another issue that popped up earlier in March of this year was that I was hearing a squeaking and chirping sound that would start when I hit about 25mph, and it would persist until I slowed down below 25mph no matter the throttle or brake input. As best as I could tell it...

    ElectricWizards 2000 TJ Sport Build

Yes I am alive! Never really intended to step away, but then something gets in the way, I think everybody can relate to that. And of course, I'm always ready for doing stuff outdoors! Lately I've been heading out to Central Oregon a lot more, in part due to the wildfires closing access to the...

Clutch Hydraulics Replacement It has been a little while! This past year has been busy to say the least. Mostly I have been splitting my time between work, other hobbies/projects, and getting out on adventures with the TJ when I can. During that time I have naturally had to do some repairs...

    ElectricWizards 2000 TJ Sport Build

I'm sure you'll get it all sorted out, that's what these forums ate amazing for! And I hear ya on the body lift, I was against doing it originally but people here have convinced me otherwise. I may end up doing a small one in the future for squeezing every bit of performance out of the TJ. I...

    ElectricWizards 2000 TJ Sport Build

Awesome! I'm glad my write-up was able to help you out. It seemed so simple yet I couldn't really find anything similar online, so I figured others would probably benefit from me detailing the process. Thank you! I've tried to keep it a pretty mild and stock-ish Jeep, yet still capable of...

What gas mileage are you guys getting?

2000 4.0, 4.10 gears, 5 speed, 31x10.5 DuraTracs, and 19 gallon tank, though have only ever used just under 17. Depending on where I'm driving, and city vs highway, it's anywhere from 205 to 230 miles per tank, roughly 10-16mpg.
