What did you do to your TJ today?

Hood cowl seal. Hopefully that stops some of the leaks onto the back of the engine. When I first got it, it was running pretty bad. Changed plugs, plug wires and coil and couldn't figure out why there was water in the last cylinder hole? Was worried about a gasket leak, but seems it was just...

    03 TJ questions

You can do it yourself of course, but if you have any refrigerant left in the system, I'd have a shop recover it. Also, you can't really test the system without an HVAC vacuum. You can buy one, but I think they run at least $200 and up.

    03 TJ questions

You can bring it in for a charge, let the mechanic know the story and ask for a leak test (dye they add to the system). They'll check for dye leaks and put it on a vacuum to see if it holds. Most of the time they leak at the Schrader valves on the high/low access points. These are really easy...

    03 TJ questions

It's hard to say how long they can sit, but think how tiny the rubber is on a Schrader valve. I use my A/C on hot sometimes during the winter so it doesn't go more than a few months without running the compressor. If it's been a year, it may be ok, but if they say "it worked fine 2 years+...

    03 TJ questions

Having been 15 yo once, I would have done some questionable things with a Rubicon. I went mud-bogging with a 1980 Rabbit convertible. I would get a mechanic that's willing to do a thorough look, including maybe a compression check, on a ~200k vehicle. As Cooper Smith said, A/C systems are a...

    Wiring connector suggestions?

OK, so the fan I have is an aftermarket fan. That's why I only have a blue and a black cable. Blue is hot and black ground. Currently it is grounded to the chassis near the right headlight. So according to this diagram, the high speed fan relay is the yellow line. If I use the above male...

What did you do to your TJ today?

I did TJ cha-cha! Took off the cowl to clean underneath since I have a big rain happening overnight (and the passenger floorboard is always soaked after a rain). That went fine with very little debris (I was hoping it was clogged and causing the leak), but I noticed the cowl seal is dry rotted...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Emptied out the blower motor of a half pound of dirt, debris, dried up bugs and a mystery 2"x2" piece of foam? It's a lot quieter now! But I noticed the air intake door is flopping around and I REALLY don't feel like taking the AC housing out to fix it !?@%$

What did you do to your TJ today?

Stared at her, shook my head and bought a new connector on Amazon so the fan will run.

    Wiring connector suggestions?

Thanks CreepinDeth! I found this kit online and might give it a try. I might try a manual for a wiring schematic to figure out why I have only one blue wire in the fan harness, connecting to a three wire plug? I verified the fan comes on after jumping the blue wire to the battery.

    Wiring connector suggestions?

2006 TJ SE 2.4L - father-in-law was having problems with radiator getting hot and overflowing the reservoir tank, so he decided to hardwire the radiator fan always on with ignition. Well, the fuse block melted where he wired it (#18, picture 3), though l may get away without having to replace...

What is this and what does it attach to?

2006 TJ SE 2.4L gifted to my wife from my father-in-law. I've been piddling with it for over a year and would like to get it reliable as a daily. Under the hood yesterday, and noticed this. Anyone know where it connects and what it's for? I didn't see any obvious location it should connect...

    2006 2.4L Won't idle after plug/wire/coil change

I just changed the plugs, plug wires and ignition coil on a 2006 2.4L TJ. Vehicle given to my wife by her father-in-law after he wrecked it (right fender damaged and steering wheel upside down). It ran ok until I brought it to a family friend to weld frame damage from accident and it ran really...
