No crank, no start. Out of ideas.

So I have no idea as to the legitimacy of this idea, but it is worth trying since it’s so easy. I bought a rolled TJ that had the same symptoms as you. No luck with anything until I read this thread and reset the PCM…it literally fired up immediately. Worth a shot at least...

    Jeep Died, What Happened?

Appreciate any guidance: Jeep info: 4.0, 42RLE, 5.13 gears, 33x10.5s Here’s what happened…driving home after camping Memorial Day, cruising fine along I-70 at 70-75mph. Headed up Vail Pass eastbound (very long steep uphill for those not familiar). Jeep died about a quarter mile from the...

How do you insure your TJ?

Given the skyrocketing costs of replacing decent older Jeeps, I’ve always carried full coverage. It seems a no-brainer to me to pay $148.00 per year for a 2004 LJ and $131.00 per year for a 2000 XJ, for vehicles that are worth at least $12k and $5k, respectively. My deductible is $1000 and...

Return to Sender? Possible Head Gasket Leak in New TJ

OP, this is very likely your issue, especially since it sounds like the Jeep was overheated. 2000-2001 Jeep 4.0s are well documented for having issues with cracked heads (faulty 0331 casting) which while not common, nearly always happens if the Jeep is overheated. I’d really look into that...

Windshield washer squirters for 2000 TJ

LOL. Missed that photo…might be waiting a while for the vinegar to work then.

Windshield washer squirters for 2000 TJ

If you are replacing your oem sprayer because it is not working anymore, try soaking it in vinegar for a bit and then blowing it out with compressed air. That happened to mine and it works just fine again after I did that.

Half-door saga; am I going to regret getting into this?

Another easy option rather than Mcgard locks is to just unhook the lock rod on the interior so that the door only locks and unlocks with the key. Can’t take the doors if you can’t open them!

Who changes their own oil here?

See what you do is smash your drain plug and bottom of oil pan on a rock so that you no longer need to change your oil! Don’t know who woulda done that…. On a side note, I also send my oil to Blackstone for analysis every other oil change or so. Great way to check out engine health and make...

Rear disc brakes on a TJ?

I’ve never understood why people associate the ability to drive manual with a higher level of driving ability. You can just as easily be distracted or talk on a cell phone or eat or flip off the driver next to you while shifting as you can in an automatic. Driving a manual is not hard, the only...

Selling full doors keyed to my ignition

Just direct them to the how-to thread here on how to rekey doors…it’s stupid easy. Much easier for them to rekey then having two keys on their keychain.

Mechanic telling me Jeeps just leak

For what it’s worth I also have had a rear main seal leak in my LJ for 5 years to the point it leaves 1 drop after every time I drive it and I’ve never needed to add oil. It definitely got worse when I switched to synthetic, so I switched back.… With that said, you paid $620 to have a service...

‘04 LJ owners: what are the 12th and 13th digits in your VIN?

If you email Jeep they will tell you. Or, you can ask a dealership, they should be able to look it up as well.
