Well Jerry was right again. I did in fact wire in the 5 pin incorrectly and in turn welded 2 solenoids open. What a mess but glad to have it fixed. Now to decide which one I sell.

Motor is fine, tested before install 2 days ago. It looks like 2 of the new solenoids are bad though and that’s possibly what caused the motor to run on and burn out. Going to give warn a call tomorrow since they are supposedly warn solenoids listed on amazon.

I’m troubleshooting with someone and we did a resistance test and I’m getting a reading on the 2 solenoid posts tied to the wire that started melting. Wondering if I fried 2 new solenoids when the motor went

9.5ti uses a different controller. I also tested with 2 different controllers on the xd9000i. The only consistency is nothing happens except sparking

yep. Sparked even worse as soon as I corrected the neg terminal.

I guess it’s a possibility but I eliminated that based on it working previously and the 9.5ti acting the same during a test. If the 9.5ti worked it be staring at the wiring right now but that didn’t happen and now I’m completely lost.

Just sparking upon connecting the ground lead. No smoke or heating up till I use the controller however it does nothing. I think that answers your question.

And the kicker is....why is the 9.5ti exhibiting the exact same issue.

When I replaced the solenoids I grabbed a 5 pin connector and swapped from 4 pin. They sent me a 5 pin contoller with it. Wiring was good when I tested it after solenoid replacement and spooled the line on. Something has obviously changed but I can’t figure out what. I’ve verified the wiring...

Alright, I’m lost on this one. I’ve talked to warn twice and they are lost. Xd9000i- I’ve replaced all of the wiring up at the solenoids and switched to 5pin adding in the ground to motor lug. All solenoids replaced very recently. Controller is new. Motor is 2 days old. Leads are in good...

The move to synthetic line was high up on the list for me due to the weight being forward of the axle and also the safety factor. A 50’ line isn’t that expensive, carry that and a 50’ extension once you have the funds. There’s multiple benefits in my eyes of having 50’ on the drum with an extension.

I’d say you’re in the ballpark weight wise. For me, that was an area I don’t mind having steel, or additional weight. My bumper is the Barnes plate so I save a chunk of weight higher and I run a bestop highrock tire carrier which saves me a bit more and tucks the spare close like the exogate...
