Started driving in my dad's almond beige '85 XJ with the GM 2.8L V6 and A904 three-speed automatic: oof. Stayed stock and it really couldn't wheel, so it was just a DD. It got me around in the winter, though!
In college, I got a deep amethyst pearlcoat '99 TJ Sport in 2003 and that started my Jeeping journey. 4.0L with the AX-15 five-speed. Lifted economically with the Rubicon Express BB and a 1" BL on 33x10.5" BFG AT pizza cutters. Had an ice block fall on my hood on the highway and got an AEV hood put on. Wheeled it often at Rausch Creek in PA. Made all the mistakes with it. Loved it. Sold it for ...
My crush orange '12 JK Rubicon manual that I got in 2012. Lifted relatively quickly with a Rock Krawler 2.5" Max Travel and OME shocks on 37" Nitto Trail Grapplers. Rode great. Didn't regear. Made more mistakes—learned a lot more. Couldn't really wheel it before I sold it to afford my first house.
Which brings me to my bright silver metallic '06 LJ manual that I bought from Los Angeles and drove back to Baltimore with my dad. My Jeeping started with him and I wouldn't have had it any other way! I can't wait to start making it mine and getting into some camping and wheeling again—the right way this time.
