2003 TJ Dana 30 axle guides

I used a 4ft piece of 3/4 i.d. pipe to knock the seals out.

Damn, as usual your explanation makes a lot of sense. I guess I did a bunch of work for no reason. It was still a good experience. Thank you.

Hmm, is that not a possibility? The FSM states: "Install axle shaft assembly into the housing and differential side gears. Avoid damaging the axle shaft oil seals in the axle housing." I figured I somehow damaged the seal.

I thought the purpose of these rings was to not allow the splines on the axle to damage the diff seals. This one time, at Band Camp, I replaced an axle ujoint. Short time after that I had diff fluid coming out the axle. I had to go in and replace the seal that I knicked. I was more careful...

New control arms (does anyone know how and why my axle shifted?)

A jack under the pinon or spring perch, depending on which way the axle needs to rotate. In this case a bottle jack under the front of the spring perch should line it up.

I purchased a full set of control arm bolts from them. Quick shipping and well packed. No complaints.

What did you do to your TJ today?

Liquid wrench the exhaust collector bolts before hand. Once I had the fender off, it wasn't that hard to get to the manifold lower bolts. I think there were still one or two that I had trouble getting torqued properly when reassembling. Make sure the intake manifold is flush to the head...
