Safe RPM for longer (150 mile), freeway trips

Thanks to everyone. I think the overwhelming consensus is that 3000 to 3200 on the highway should go as far as my butt can handle the seat in a day!! I do appreciate all the comments. Im not going to worry about it!!

Dan, That was my point exactly, but I appreciate everyone's comments. I'm probably to conservative.

Safe RPM for longer (150 mile), freeway trips

As many of us with the 3 speed auto transmissions know, bigger tires and lower axle gear ratios provide great power, but really run freeway RPMs up. Anyone have a thought on max RPM to cruise at on the highway for a couple hours or more? With 33s and 410s, I’m tacking over 3000 rpm at 70. In...

    Locker for 3:73 and up

Sorry for what seems like a silly question, but I am unsure. When an aftermarket locker says for 3.73 and up. Does the ”up” mean higher number gear ratio, 4.10 as an example, or an actual higher gear ratio, 3.03 as an example? Jeff

How to recalibrate your speedometer after changing tire sizes or gears

My new gear is coming today. I'm a little confused. You say to make sure the gear number range for your gear is in the 5 o'clock position, but also say the metal U clamp fits in the slots in the plastic housing. Don't the slots determine which number range is in the 5 o'clock position?

    Speedometer gears

i ordered a new one yesterday. Shipped today. Should be here by Saturday. Be interesting to see what is in there. It came with 3.07 and I think about 28 or 29 tires, not sure on standard sport on 1999. I put an SYE on myself and had the gear out, but was to engrossed in the TC and SYE, I...

    Speedometer gears

I’m sorry to post this, but all the threads I have found provide links to pages and charts that are gone! The few I have found do not agree. I have a 1999, TJ with 4.0, auto and 4.11 gears. I went back to 33s from 35s. Well they are almost 33, they are wildpeak, 285/70/17 tires which I think...

Fuel tank filler tube mod to convert 15 gallon tank to 19 gallon

Probably, but it will be the short one. 1999 was the last year of the 15 gallon tank, which was just the longer tube and a new part number stamped on it.

Where are common spots the transmission leaks from?

crap, typo. 32RH behind a 6 cylinder. 30 RH behind the 4 cylinder.

Where are common spots the transmission leaks from?

Are you sure? Your jeep has 4.0 on the side of it. If it is a 4.0, it has a 36rh in it. Jerry is there a difference in leak points, I have some nasty leaks in my 1999 4.0 with a 36RH.

Has anyone used these eBay silicone radiator hoses from China?

China is China. Some good, some bad. Unfortunately, just like made in USA. All the Gates products I have used lately are now made in China! I see this is an old post. Anyone have any updates. The major advantage of Silicone is heat. I'm in Arizona and heat is a daily issue here. I change...
