So I got a very good deal on a 2.4 out of an 05. I thought it was an 04, the buyer was unsure and stated 04, it was cheap enough I'd have bought it anyways though so its irrelevant I guess. Anyways when it got to my house I compared it side by side to my old engine and it looked mostly the same...

Oh this head is shot, when the valve broke off it compressed between the cylinder and the head and gouged it pretty good. I am not sure it is even worth rebuilding this head...

I was going to rebuild the 2.4 in my TJ but decided I would rather replace and take my time to rebuild as a spare. I am located near atlanta GA and am willing to travel a couple of hours, looking for an 03-04 but may go up to 05-06 depending on price.

***Update*** I believe I can use a 2003 wrangler/Liberty engine, def not an 04 liberty as they did change so for future reference there you guys go. It is irrelevant though as I go into it yesterday and found the issue... I dont know how or why but a valve broke off at the stem, the piston...
