What did you do to your TJ today?

Pulled out my scrunched up fender and right as I was doing a color test before I actually started applying paint to the replacement, I find that the color is too dark. Looks like the solar part of my yellow has stopped being so solar after 17 years or they added too much solar to the paint...

    Pucker Factor

February 4th 2019 Coming home from work I hit some ice and went into a guardrail. I remember the front end coming up and my the Jeep leaning and I fell on my side and slid about 100 feet. After I came to a stop I heard nothing but silence and realized that I wasn’t hurt at all. That’s when I...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Replaced the clockspring and I have my horn and cruise control back and the air bag light is finally off. My wallet is still recovering from the outright assault on it. I couldn’t believe the price for a new one and of course 2002 is the only year that doesn’t have an aftermarket choice...

    Door hinge bushing replacement recommendations?

Thank you. I was able to get them out fairly easily with a hammer and flat blade screwdriver, but I’ve broken the other plastic ones that I’ve tried to put back in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Door hinge bushing replacement recommendations?

Can anyone recommend any door hinge bushings that actually fit the OE hinges and are not $10 each? I’be ordered two sets from Amazon and eBay and so far I’m batting .000 Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How can I improve my alignment results?

It’s hard to capture it in a picture because of the angle of the camera but I can clearly see that one rear control arm is straighter than the other. How would I go about adjusting the toe in the rear? Is it fully dependent on the control arms? Should I also be looking at an adjustable...

How can I improve my alignment results?

I took a couple of pictures of the driver and passenger inner Cs on the axle for comparison. I originally thought that I may have a worn upper ball joint on the driver side but now that you’ve brought up the possibility of a bent inner C, I’m not sure anymore. This is probably bad news. I...

How can I improve my alignment results?

I'll try to post some better pictures and face each rear control arm square on. I'm pretty sure the passenger side is bent. I'm thinking that I'll take the Jeep back to the other Firestone across town for another alignment and see what they identify or suggest and then out for a second opinion...

How can I improve my alignment results?

Should I be looking just at lowers or uppers as well? I still have factory uppers installed. Thank you again for your help. This is what I'm ultimately trying to recover from. I hit ice, went into the guardrail and ended on my side and slid about 50 feet.

How can I improve my alignment results?

Yes my rear track bar is stock and has a relocation bracket installed. It is indeed a 4” lift. One thing I just noticed and I realize it’s a bad picture, is that the right rear lower control arm seems to be at a different angle than the left one. I don’t know what angles the rear control arms...

How can I improve my alignment results?

I remember the steering wheel spinning freely when I got my Jeep back from the wreck that caused me to replace everything in the first place. But at that time it was because the pitman arm had been sheered off the steering gearbox, output shaft and everything. I will do the steps above and see...

How can I improve my alignment results?

The actual mechanic that worked on it told me he tried to work on the caster but that he couldn’t get it to change and also brought up that the bushings on the control arms may need to be replaced. Should I be looking at switching to adjustable control arms? My ball joints are not adjustable...

How can I improve my alignment results?

After replacing my steering box, doing a ZJ tie rod conversion, replacing my drag link, and adding an adjustable track bar, I finally went in for an alignment (previously bought lifetime alignment from Firestone). Here are my results: I expected the toe to be completely out of whack but I...

I am finished working on my Jeep

The interesting part is that ever since I moved the Jeep to the back yard and the kids are doing their thing, my 4 year old has started asking for my tools to work on her Barbie PowerWheels Jeep and my 18 month old can’t stop walking around and pointing at all the parts bigger than him and...
