I had a hose that was disconnected in the engine bay, my mechanic found it when doing rear main seal replacement (I had asked them to check on the evap if they could).

What side? What did you torque the castle nut to? How does it look? Need more data on these Moog TRE and how far the stud is coming through the knuckle

@OldBuzzard your summary is spot on and I agree with your assessment based on my troubleshooting. Thanks for chiming in! My plan is to buy a different brand of TRE for driver's side and see how it fits. Been diving with the smashed Moog for some time now.

Post back after this weekend, interested to learn what you find out. I am in NC too (Raleigh) maybe we can wheel sometime.

Can you guys post a pic of your TRE so we can compare? I have even swapped out the knuckle per suggestion in this thread and had the same result. I was wondering if perhaps I had the wrong TRE in there and it was a different taper. I can't think of anything else. I know that my TRE boot is...

Wow these photos look familiar :D I used SEM stuff too, basically the same as @Yoda To get that paint off, it's a lot of elbow grease. I used a combination of stuff to get at the paint, but I think the Zep industrial grease remover was the best (make sure you are using gloves). Scotchbrite...

Is your driver's side outer tie rod stud pulled too far through the knuckle so the cotter pin is above the castellations in the nut? I can't tell for sure but based on how compressed that tie rod boot is, looks like you might have the same thing I have going on. I have been trying to figure it out.

What I mean is, I don't see a difference between: 1. my existing stock knuckle (not replaced) and my Moog TRE (from Amazon) ... As seen in original post 2. this new knuckle and new Moog TRE (from Advance Auto) that I bought tonight and put together It looks the same to me

Brand new stock TJ knuckle (Crown Automotive) with a brand new TRE (Moog ES3096L) at 55ft lbs (dry fit before I took anything apart) This must be a Moog thing. I'm not seeing a difference between this and my setup.
