NV3550 Grinding Noise at high speeds without load

Hello all, I recently tore apart my NV3550 and replaced all of the synchros. I checked all of the bearings and determined that they were all good, so I did not replace them. I am confident that the transmission was assembled correctly, and everything felt smooth and solid after going back...

    Indiana Indiana Axle Re-Gear Shop

I used the BFH video. It wasn't that bad just make sure to leave yourself at least double the time you think it will take and make sure you have all of the tools you'll need. I tried using the old bearings for setup to save money but ended up wasting way too much time trying to remove the old...

    Floor Pan Replacement

I had to replace the center body mounts on both sides so I was kinda worried about that too. The 4 "corner" body mount bolts in that channel broke off in the tub under the floor pans so i hole sawed the floor to gain access to them from the top. I cut them out and will weld in new washer/nut...

    Floor Pan Replacement

I tried and messed up a few times now my patch is too fatigued/stretched out. its about 16-18 inches long I had a hard time getting it straight. I work in an automotive manufacturing plant so the fab shop guys should be able to make the bends for me. I just need to get another piece of sheet...

    Floor Pan Replacement

The driver side rocker was rotted and I am in the process of repairing that now. I need to find access to a sheet metal brake to get the two right angle bends at the bottom of the body so the patch matches. I'll wait to do the floorpan till that's burned in

    Floor Pan Replacement

Hey all, I am currently in the middle of a body-off restoration on my 02. The body is currently sitting on a home-made cart I built. My drivers side floor pan is rotted out and I have a replacement ready to weld in. The question is should I put the body back on the frame before doing so to...

    Looking for exhaust system recommendations

I originally had this same catback system, and it ended up cracking along the muffler welds in less than a year. I warrantied it and got the MBRP in its place and have had much better luck with it. The magnaflow also wasn't very much louder than stock. The MBRP had a bit more grumble to it

    Indiana Indiana Axle Re-Gear Shop

Definitely more than a weekend if you've never done it. Making setup bearings is a big PITA especially for the Dana 30, since you'll need 4 rather than 2. I tried using the old bearings for setup to save some money, but ended up using the new ones in the yukon kit and ordering a new set for final...

    Looking for exhaust system recommendations

I have the MBRP catback along with the 3rd cat deleted. It sounds great and is made with 2.5" pipe with a 3" tip

    Indiana Indiana Axle Re-Gear Shop

I just did mine myself. Yukon 4.88's, Eaton E-locker and revolution 30 spline axle shafts in the rear. I left the front stock for now besides the gears. It wasn't too bad, definitely took a lot of time though.

NV3550 transmission grinds into third gear

I hate to revive an old thread, but I am experiencing the same issue. Did the redline end up helping more after a few months of driving?

    NV3550 transmission rebuild

Good point, I have the rebuild manual and I just read through it again. I need an assembly fixture which I found on ebay for a $320. I should have or be able to make everything else I need. I think a little over $500 to do it myself definitely beats $1000+ to buy one re-manned

    NV3550 fill question

Thank you for the advice! My synchros are actually shot, so I am currently looking into rebuilding myself or finding a re-manned trans. I definitely want to start off with the right fluid. Regular synthetic differential gear lube is okay to use with synchronized transmissions?
