    Bye Bye Banks

Ha ha ha, if I was the kind of guy to say "I told you so...." Glad to hear you're as impressed with the improvement as I was. Go for the Banks cat-back system too, less restrictive than the stock system, and nice mellow sound. Yes on the video.

    Bye Bye Banks

Do you mean the cold air intake? I did on mine - it broke my heart to cut a big hole in side of the hood, but I wanted to make sure the system got outside air.

    Redneck Garage Door Opener

Ha ha, it was A solution, I'm not sure I'd say it was a perfect one. :) I believe the technical term is a "kludge" ( /klo͞oj/ : an ill-assorted collection of parts assembled to fulfill a particular purpose.) The yellow straps are from a Hi-Lift wheel attachment, I figured the hooks would...

Why did the 4.0 inline 6 go away?

Yeah, it was just an old design that could no longer be updated to meet current requirements (mpg, smog, NVH, etc.) Actually the basic design dates back farther than '65: "Sometimes referred to as the 196 engine, this engine was originally designed by Nash and introduced in the 1941 Nash...

    Redneck Garage Door Opener

The counterweight spring broke on my garage door, and it weighs around 150 lbs, so I figured "I have a Jeep, the Jeep has a winch, how hard could it be?"

Jeep Wrangler TJ Hard Top Repairs

Mmm, maybe drill out the holes large enough for one of these to sit with the flange at the bottom, then fill the hole with fiberglass resin? (Put a bolt in it to keep the hole from filling with resin.) That should give you a good solid metal thread that should last a long time.

What's the issue? There are lots of knowledgeable people on this forum that are always willing to help. Did your Jeep run fine before the install? Who installed it? Does it not start, does it start but not run smoothly, what does it do? Mine idled and ran smoothly before (only had 40,000...

    Bye Bye Banks

Hard to say about the improvement, as I installed it at the same time as the turbo kit. My OEM manifold was cracked in two places, so it was a good excuse to get a header. The Banks seemed to be in the same price range as other SS headers, and since I was getting the turbo from them I thought...

    Bye Bye Banks

One more big thing for us guys who live in sunny CA: I just got my rig smogged yesterday - I showed the tech the C.A.R.B. certification stickers for the turbo and header, and sailed through the smog check. The Banks system was the only boost system (turbo or supercharge) that is fully C.A.R.B...

    Bye Bye Banks

Absolutely yes! (BTW, I also added the Banks header at the same time since my factory manifold was cracked in two places. Replacing the header was a bigger PITA than the entire turbo install...)

    Upgrading the underhood light

I found mine on eBay with the wiring harness, magnetic base, and an LED bulb. I don't believe they make then any more, so it's eBay or a local junkyard to look for a Chevy pickup. I think someone in a previous post listed which ones it came on.

    Banks turbo for the 4.0?

Yep, just like the CJ and flat fender guys have been doing - if you can't find it, make it!

    Bye Bye Banks

Don't give up, build one of these! (693 from a turbo stroker)

    A Suburban on the Rubicon

I've seen full-size pickups on the Rubicon, but generally they have a lot more lift, a lot more tire, and a lot more dents....
