When you add the gearing, locker or limited slip, and disc brakes the 8.8 comes with it costs more than the 8.8.

Brackets don’t cost $4k. Everything else comes with the 8.8, except a drive shaft adapter that costs $45. There are reasons the Dana 44 is better, but price and availability isn’t one of them.

The dangerous part of all this is trying to build a dwelling somebody will be inside by pulling a wooden stud straight. Just replace everything that’s damaged, that’s the safe thing.

Answered your own question. Your OEM pump lasted 23 years. Your cheap pump lasted 3. You tell us.

For a different perspective: I do run a soft top occasionally, but I’ve froze my butt off, and suffered heat exhaustion, all over the world. Now that I’m over half a century old, I don’t need to go thru that to get a loaf of bread. I don’t sleep on the ground anymore either, for similar reasons.

Late to the party, but I’ll echo some of those above: anything bigger than 33s on a TJ takes more work thsn it’s worth unless you’re hitting really tough off-roading. A 4 inch suspension lift is potentially going to get you into things like drive shaft angle problems and other things...
