Anyone else reload ammunition?

Tried out a little experiment last fall with my FN-FAL variant in .308. WC860 powder, a heavy, cast, heat treated lead bullet and military surplus brass. Worked out nicely. 2,600 fps with a 175 grn cast bullet out of a gas gun. Not supposed to be able to do that, but then I was always a slow learner.

Reloading has saved me a lot of $$$ over the years, it's an interesting hobby to boot... especially if you enjoy being precise.

My reloader is a progressive from Dillon, a great machine. Though I occasionally reload 30-06 rifle ammo, my favorites are heavy loads for pistols like .44 magnum and an older round not many shoot much any more, the .357 Maximum which is about .3" longer than a .357 Magnum. It shoots a pretty darned flat trajectory which is good for lousy shots like me who enjoy silhouette shooting. That particular round does well in my single shot Thompson Center Contender. .44 Special and .38/.357 for my wife's .357 Ruger are other calibers that get reloaded.

Fun stuff for sure... each pull of the handle produces another finished round ready for the box.

Don't shoot as much now, my hearing can't take much more abuse. Got a free hearing aid from the VA last year and a second one may not be far off. Too many loud noises in the military and maybe a little too much loud music when I was younger. :)

Oh man,a Dillon! Always wanted a nice Dillon. ...and I've heard of the .357 maximum. I was looking into that cartridge for a single shot rifle round. It seems about perfect for a nice falling block carbine for plinking and general messing about in the woods.
