I'm looking to buy some 6" fender flare extensions for my 99 TJ. My 33" tires kick up a lot of sand when my wife and I cruse the beach with the doors off. She asked if I would get some new fenders. I'm looking to buy the plastic ones. My question is which brand seems to be most durable? I'm not rock crawling with my TJ so I'm not interested in the metal/steel ones, this is just to try and cut down on the amount of sand getting on my wife. Any ideas/suggestions?

I've never seen a single 6" fender flare that didn't look like complete shit.

That being said, they're all coming from the exact same factory in China, so take your pick as to which one you want.

In other words, doesn't matter what brand they are labeling them as, they're all coming from the same exact factory. That's generally how this works.

Tell your wife it's all part of the Jeep experience.

There's the Hurricane Fender Flares by Rugged Ridge. They've held up for me but some people think they're God awful ugly. As you can see, they don't keep all of the mud away.

Just don't sit on the front ones when your working in the engine bay. The rear have held a eleven year old, though.

ya, i know they wont eliminate all the sand coming in, but they will cut it down. I was just wondering if one brand was better than another.
I can't say. Chris is right, though. They pretty much all come from the same place in China made of the same materials.

I was on a hunt for a while for some 6" metal flares. I couldn't find any that didn't involve cutting or removing OEM fender parts.

I got the Hurricane flares because I wanted to stay legal when I was in CA. I've got so many dead whores in the back at any given moment that I didn't want to present any probable cause to get stopped. ;)

No personal experience, but Bushwacker flares used to be popular.
I believe they have pocket and/or flat versions available.

Would sure like to see a some front and rear straight on pics of the 6" Xenon flares. The coverage would be nearly perfect for my setup but fear the clunky look and also wonder if I'd really prefer to smack a tire before a flare. Yup, been all over the interweb.. lotsa side shots. No way to tell from the website photos what tire/wheel setup is on the featured TJ.
Replacing Bushwacker pocket flares that really limit tire clearance with 3 - 4" drop.

There’s a guy in these parts that will sew a whole extra set of flares onto your existing ones to bump’m out as far as you want, or go the other way & shrink the ones you have down, your choice, & it’s all seamless/barely noticeable.

I've never seen a single 6" fender flare that didn't look like complete shit.

This may sound silly but for winter when it’s muddy here I built a easily removable mud flap and holder that bolts to the two rear lower fender flair holes. It’s basically an “L” shape then uses some rubber baseboard moulding so it’s flexible but keeps the sling from the front tires off the side of the Jeep.

When I get home tomorrow I’ll snap a photo. It looks better than it sounds.

Mine does exactly what this one does, it flicks mud between the fender flair and the rock sliders. The mud flap thingy prevent the mud from going through this area.

I’m assuming that my mudflaps are factory, but I’ve never noticed them on other Jeep’s before. Maybe it’s part of an LJ trim package? I’m going to be taking these off (not getting rid of them)

, but I’d bet that a set of these would work good to keep the sand out of your wife’s hair!

How much fling do you get with those? Your wheel offset doesn’t look too aggressive so that could also be a factor.
