Just got my birthday present installed.... and super excited about it. Digital mirror, 2.5K camera facing forwards, 1080P camera in the rear mounted in my spare. The mirror straps over your stock mirror and has REALLY snappy voice controls (show front camera, show rear camera, show both cameras, take a photo, etc). I went from barely being able to see out the back due to the 35" tire and dirty/scratched/tinted rear window.... to seeing a very clear view in both daylight and at night.

For $105... it's a gamechanger.

Figured I'd share for anyone else that has similar poor visibility out the rear. Not to mention it now means I can stack more camping gear in the back and not worry about obstructing my view.

Looks good but I would miss the ability to move the center rearview mirror around slightly at times for traffic location, cars maybe being in my blind spots, towing, etc.

His rear window is probably no clearer than yours, that view you're seeing in his rear view mirror is from the camera mounted in the spare tire. :)
on the first post 2nd picture. he took a picture from inside the cabin facing out the back. It's pretty damn clear and my first thought was as the other poster mentioned I wish I had a window that clear.

Yep, that's what I was referring to. I can hardly make out my tire mine is so bad :ROFLMAO:

Man, I wish my rear window was half as clear as yours lol.
Do you have a link for that setup?

Here's the mirror/upper of the two cameras seen from the rear shot:

Camera is mounted on top of my other backup camera connected to my Alpine deck.

That was my initial worry... however it's a very wide view. My side view mirrors I've for years used a technique to minimize blind spots. Place your head against the driver window, adjust driver mirror until you just lose view of the body of the vehicle. Head in center of vehicle, adjust passenger mirror until you just lose view of the body of the vehicle. I have virtually no blind spots with a quick sweep from left mirror to center then right. There's *slight overlap as a car passes on either side between center and either side mirror, until the car is right along side of you. The only thing you don't get out of the rear view is a good angle on how close you are to an object when backing up. That's when I use the backup camera connected to the stereo. I also have a front mounted camera on the bumper, so pulling forward when parking I can see exactly how close I am to objects.

I forgot to mention... it's set to record front/rear footage on a loop. Integrated shock sensor will lock a 20 second clip in the event of a collision. Or just say "record video" and it will bypass the looped recording and save a segment to upload to your computer later. I've had a couple people cut me off pretty badly recently and thought they were going to cause an accident... so it's also for potential evidence if I'm ever hit or in an accident.

That's what spot mirrors are for. But if one wants a camera type system, the OP's is the way to go for sure - omits the bullshit screen in the dash and puts it where it belongs.

Wondering how the visibility will be after a few miles down a dirt road. Id like to see a version of that with a mini rocket launcher instead of a camera for that unruly tailgater.

Love to find something like this that also has temperature and a compass. And probably replaces the mirror instead of a strap on.

Definitely cool! The mirror take batteries?

I used to be a fan of spot mirrors when I had no other options. But I always disliked that they took up mirror real estate, and maybe it’s just me, but my eyes(or brain) didn’t like trying to change focal points in such a small area. I guess maybe that’s due to the mirrors I used, but either way, I wanted to do something different this time around and I’ve been more than surprised.

I’ll find out over NYE out in the desert! The current backup camera hasn’t really collected dust, however being lower resolution, it’s possible it’s just not as noticeable.

Hard wired with constant power, though it does have a built in battery in case you don’t want to run to a constant power source. I’ve got dual deep cycle batteries, so I’m not concerned.

This looks like a great setup! Question… is the pic quality good in any lighting condition? Asking b/c the rear view mirror camera in my ProMaster is very difficult to see / use. I assumed that it was due to not being a dash mount: it’s got a lot of glare being up in the normal rear view mirror position. My wife’s backup camera works excellent, (Maxima) but it’s got the dash mounted screen.

It seems to be. The screen is quite bright/vivid.

Drove up to idyllwild on Christmas Day. Raining and dirty roads(assuming gravel/dirt from snow plows). Haven’t needed to clean the camera yet. Still very clear out the back.
