... since the days of having to screw around with Unimog parts. I'm sure my LJ will never see a set of them and I don't know how much future they have with Jeepers in general. Interesting article though.

This just has @Fouledplugs name written all over it if you ask me ;)
74 WELD builds some amazing stuff here, huh?

A LOT of ultra 4 racers are using them. Lots of added ground clearance on IFS fronts.

I’m not sure I want them under my vehicle as much as I want to display one in my office 😆

They look like works of art.

If you watch the sponsored Bronco launch off that step down cliff at KOH on these 74 Weld portals pretty much all questions of durability will be answered. That was insane. Id be shocked if he did that on purpose.

And then he was interviewed pulling off the track onto a paved road and self admitted that the cliff was prob the cause for his break that took his rig out of the race.

Not sure the portals are made for that...?
They are, it's just that things break. Anything can and will break.

It's one of those things that could have been used a whole year without issue, show up for the next race, and something lets go.

Some teams, and I'm sure they fall into the category, will have all their gears both in the thirds and portals checked and inspected often under dye and light looking for surface cracks that will eventually lead to breakage, in an effort to get ahead of small stuff like that.

It really was unbelievable. Im seen some rad jumps before but i've never seen that big of a hit just get soaked up. Wonder if blew out a disc in his back or anything or how violent it was inside the rig because it looked plush from outside but that is some serious mass X deceleration right there.
