Hi All -

New to the forum and excited about my "new to me" 2002 TJ Sport.

I'd like to add an OEM cruise control with used parts and am confused abut the placement of the servo. My Jeep has a rather large emissions canister and several vacuum lines in the location where I believe the servo should be mounted (in front of the brake master cylinder).

I searched the forum and other sources and couldn't find a picture of a mounted servo other than in the location where my emissions canister is.

Would one of you please describe it's placement in my model, or better yet, post a picture?

Thanks for your help with this.

Here's a picture of the emissions canister where the cruise control servo typically goes.

Where's the alternate location if not there?

Thanks for your help with this.

It mounts to the canister,You can use a clockspring from an xj(just have to open up the middle)I have a set of switches for a 2002 when I did mine,if you want them, this is a good deal on eBay

Awesome - thanks for the help.

My Jeep wasn't pre-wired and I can't find a wiring harness that used to come with the Mopar kit, so I'm noodling on whether I want to tackle this project.

Moglocker, I'll reach out to you for your switches if I decide to go ahead.

Thanks again.

OK... follow-up question.

2002 TJ Sport Manual 4.0L

I removed the air bag from the steering wheel and found the green plug from the clockspring that the cruise control switches plug into. And the dash has a "cruise" light which illuminates during an instrument cluster test.

Does that mean I'm wired for cruise control? If so, I can't locate the plug under the hood that goes to the servo. It's not located near the master cylinder. Is it possible that it's on the passenger side, maybe under the battery tray?

Or maybe the main harness doesn't have the cruise connections even though the steering wheel and dash do?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

If you don’t see the plug, it’s not there. You can also confirm the absence of wiring by unplugging the C3 connector at the PCM to see which wires are missing.

My ‘05 LJ was not wired for cruise control but I did add the factory wiring, essentially building the overlay harness, and it was not as complicated as I’d expected.

To build the overlay harness, you’ll need a C3 connector so that you can de-pin some terminal leads and also a servo connector - I picked up both from eBay.

Though your ‘02 will not use the exact wiring as an ‘05-06, this is the video I followed. It will give you good insight into what’s involved.

In Resources, you’ll find the factory service manual. Go to wiring and connector pin-outs to determine where you need to run wires. The speed control wiring diagram is on page 605.
