I have noticed a small drip in the gear box for the power steering on our 01 tj sport with 4.0l auto.

Are there seals I can replace or do I need to just plan to replace the unit? The fluid doesn't appear low, but it is kind of nasty looking. I'll try to suck it out and put in some fresh and see what happens. I have some BG power steering fluid and I think it has leak stop in it..... what's the chance that'll work?

How hard are these to replace? Any preferred brands?

I just sprayed the gear box down with degreaser, sucked out old fluid and refilled, and washed everything off.

I think the leak may be coming from where the steering wheel enters. Is that the input shaft as I'm told that might have replaceable gasket and common leak spot.

Hopefully with it clean and fresh fluid I'll be able to pinpoint the leak more readily.

He's some pics if any feedback.
