Thought I'd share some of my other hobbies. Just finished this 18" home theater sub build. Uses a FI audio q18 with soft parts setup for home theater. 7cu ft tuned at 19hz. Running a crown xls 1002 as that is what I had already. First test tonight was rather impressive! Huge upgrade from the 15" that was in there before. I've built countless custom subwoofer boxes for both home and car audio, as well as many portable battery powered bluetooth boomboxes. Anyone else in here enjoy diy audio??

That looks nice. Are you using a program for volume and port design. Years ago I spent a few years doing high end car audio. Did a few of Pioneers show cars. I not much of a tv watcher but did just put together a 2 channel system for the home. Audio is a whole other rabbit hole to go down.

I couldn’t imagine that in the house 🤣 that’s gotta be violent haha! No pictures on my current phone but I used to run 2 15” Sundown sa-15’s in my extended cab Ranger. Currently running two of their sa-8’s on about 1500w in a box tuned to around 33hz. Would’ve liked it to be a little lower but that’s ok.

I’ve taken my router to the edges and covered it with carpet since this picture was taken. The box is bolted to the sub-floor so I didn’t have to see any angle brackets or anything securing it.

Nowhere near as clean as your build though haha!

I dabbled in car audio and built a handful of boxes back in the day. Eventually I came to appreciate the space taken up by subwoofers more than the speakers themselves.

The house I'm building has a 24x24 space above the garage set aside as a future theater room. I'll probably build a sub or two for that. I haven't had a legit home theater in years so I'm all amped up about being able to wire it up before there's sheetrock in the way. I'd like to end up with something cool like a 7.2.4 Atmos, seat shakers and a 4k projector onto a screen sized by theater convention for the viewing distance, or whatever fits on a 9' wall.

I use winisd usually, there are a few others. Been at it for 16 years now about. It's a fun hobby. Crossover design has been a lot of fun as well.

Looks good and I bet it was loud. I'm lucky enough that the wife also was a basshead and enjoys it. The impact in the room compared to the 15 that was in there before is on a whole other level.

This is my dream, to build a room from scratch. We are getting closer to that. I would like to build in tiered seating in a room like that!

Holy smokes. I had a single cab S10, with two 10” blaupunkts in ported boxes I built. That was enough to almost make you sick. I can’t image 4 12’s!

I had two 12’s with a significant amount of power and a battery capacitor for it in my ranger. They took out the rear window seal a couple times, needed to leave the front windows down a bit to handle the pressure.

The things we thought were cool in high school, eh? I wonder why I have tinnitus now?

Pretty sure most people must have thought I was retarded and obnoxious.

I grew up in the country, on a private dirt road that we lived on the end of. it was about a half mile. Mom and Dad used to be able to claim they could tell when I turned onto the road, cuz they could hear me coming...Nice little tip for when I was out past curfew!

Yep, lived out in the country too and my parents said the same thing. The good old days.
