I think I want to ditch my Genright dropdown tire carrier and put the spare in the cargo area. Tire is 37"x12.5". Should I lay it flat, or stand it up behind the driver seat? If I stand it up, any ideas to keep it safe?
flat on a fabricated platform for storage underneath
This setup worked well for me in the past.I was thinking about a basket over top if flat to keep weight down, bad idea?
I'm just going off of the ideas of mrblaine. He's built several elevated platforms that allow storage underneath. It's the way I'm going when I get the opportunity.I was thinking about a basket over top if flat to keep weight down, bad idea?
hence the elevated platform with storage for recovery gear, tool bags, etc. underneathAre you sure a 37" will fit laying down? My 35" barely fits laying flat in that space...
I was looking at the tuffy storage boxes, what about about that?
I assume you're referring to the underseat storage drawer?

This drawer is designed to live underneath the bench seat. I'm not sure if it's designed to support the weight of cargo on top?
good point, I didn't consider that.
