Who has driven with their windshield down?

Sorry I used the wrong "their"

I’m not sure @lxxtsy has ever driven with the windshield up! ;)

What an appropriately named apparatus, by the way!

I used to in my CJ all the time. Never have in my TJ or LJ.

Ever stick your head out the car window or ride a motorcycle? It’s similar to that, at least at highway speeds.

had my down for a few weeks passed several cops with no problem. tears were coming from my eyes it was so windy on the highway but in the city it was bearable even enjoyable up to about 35
funny thing about driving with the windshield down was it made me think of my grandfather. I don't have many memories of him as he passed away when I was 3 but a picture I have of him shows him in a jeep I guess during WWII. It was weird but in a way I felt a connection to him.

ahhh did not know that.....what kind of issues could I run into if it never was done before on the TJ? I know with doors that have never been off there is some work to break them free?

You need a torx to remove the round head bolt on each side of the windshield. You also need to remove the 4 torx bolts holding on the spreader bars. If you have a Gentex mirror you may need to disconnect the wiring harness. You want to strap down the windshield when its laid down. You can’t drive like this with the soft top up or hardtop installed. You must lower the soft top or completey remove it (if running a hardtop you must completey remove it).

I've never done it with my TJ but my good friend Chris used to have a CJ5 and we drove it around a lot with the windshield down. There were only 3 things I didn't like about it, in the spring it was the Mayflys which stink and taste awful, summer brought the June-bug and fall introduced hordes of fake Ladybugs which also stink when you mash em. Gettin' hit in the face with a June-bug at 45 mph felt like taking a shot from a golf ball!!!

I used to all the time in my YJ, but i found the wind on my face to be waaaay crazier than on a motorcycle. Don't know if it's the airflow coming over the jeep or what, but at highway speeds it's pretty uncomfortable in the jeep.
