Any help or thoughts would be great.
2001 TJ Automatic.

Check Engine Light popped up and started flashing while wheeling up a steel incline. Then while driving back home the check engine light would flash like crazy and would loose power on some inclined/hills. It also seemed like the engine would shake or maybe it was just the misfiring.

Went and got it scanned and the code read misfire cylinder 1.

Coil Pack and New Spark Plugs a good place to start?

Thanks!

Remove and examine the spark plug checking the condition of the center electrode; verify the gap which should be around .035.
IF the electrode is worn, dirty or the gap is too large, and you can't remember the last time the spark plugs were replaced; you should consider replacing them.
While the coil pack is removed take a close look at the coil pack boot for that cylinder looking for signs of deterioration.

Must be a time of year thing. I say that because my 2001 TJ automatic is having the exact same problem. (I replaced sparkplugs today and it seems to have helped). I have compiled a list of how I plan on tackling it. I am going to do each item one at a time to see if it makes any difference.
1. sparkplugs,
2. Crankshaft position sensor
3. Spark Plug Rail.
4. Camshaft position sensor.
5. Tracing wires looking for shorts.
6 Curle up in a ball and cry for a week
7. Start looking at the exhaust, and computer.

Just to share, The last time this happened to me sparkplugs and a new Crankshaft position sensor took care of the issue. That was about 7 years ago and 70K miles.
