This goes against my general principles, walking and whatnot, but have any of you done any hiking at Uwharrie? I'm trying to find some local out-of-the-way areas to get the kids (young) out in the woods and in some creeks.

Where in nc are you?

Was gonna suggest a couple other places, but they’re much farther than Uwharrie is, not worth it.

I'm basically looking for places within an ~hour drive from me, which Uwharrie is. We also frequent Brunswick county and Boone if there are any suggestions around there. Now I'm giving out too many secrets.

Check out some of the hikes in blowing rock, near Boone. Spent a huge amount of time in those mountains and hikes between the ages of 5 and 10. Super beautiful area. Good, short hikes for younger kids, all with amazing views. If you’re up for a bit of a drive from Boone, linville gorge is the best it gets, (called the Grand Canyon of the east). Maybe not the best for super young kids, but if I’m not in Charlotte, I’m spending time in the gorge. My favorite place on earth.

If you guys like to mountain bike, San Lee in Sanford has some nice trails. They also have hiking trails and a small lake.
The trail system seems pretty big also at Uwharrie. You probably couldn’t go wrong there. I’d even argue to hike along the Jeep trails on a weekend to watch people doing dumb things. A little entertainment lol

Made a last minute trip to finally do a shake down run. Been crazy busy and forgot to post anything about it. It ran better than I imagined and had no issues. I did find some things I still need to work through. All in all a great trip. I feel way more comfortable taking it out now. I would post videos but they won't work for some reason. Most of the pictures were taken with my buddies iPhone and they are in HEIC format that doesn't seem to work on any device expect an iPhone. Suggestions?

There’s a possibility I’ll try to get out to Uwharrie on Sunday with my brother. Anyone else planning to be there?

I might be there on Sunday, it just depends on how everything works out between now and then, so I won't know until tomorrow evening or maybe Sunday morning.
