As I mentioned previously, I am not a mechanic and figured I asked all your pros out there.

As we are looking at purchasing a 04 TJ, we are already discussing wheels as the factory steel is not going to fly for long before they get changed out. The consensus is to stick to a factory Jeep style, preferably black. What year wrangler wheels will fit on the TJ's?

Is there a chart or cheat sheet that I can refer to or are they all pretty interchangeable?

Any word on this would be much appreciated.

‘87-‘06 will all fit without adapter
Adapters are ok so you can make any wheel work.
Your stock lug pattern is 5 on 4.5
If your buying aftermarket go for 16” wheel and tire package to accommodate future upgrades. That’s an opinion.

Factory wheels are all 15" (except for the 16" on rubicons) 5x4.5 pattern with usually around a 5" backspacing. Below is a comprehensive list on all the factory wheel options.

Ok so important info is 5x4.5 pattern , so anything newer would have a different pattern and I would need adapter.

Like the Rubicon wheels but all black if posisble.

Here’s my rig with the Mammoth wheels from extreme terrain. 15x8 with 3.75” backspacing.

Are you staying with factory sized tire and wheels? Are you looking for factory wheels or aftermarket?

Some will say avoid 16" because there are less tire choices.
Unfortunately, 17's don't look right till you get up to 35s.

And none of them look good in black. ;)

Wheel size we are looking at staying roughly factory if possible since we are looking at getting a newer factory style, but bump the tire size up as big as we can without modifications, not yet atleast.

Go on Facebook marketplace dude
No need to go crazy and buy new everything

I just put my buddies 2014 Wranglers OEM black wheels on mine but they required the adaptors. Gave him $500 , but the package was worth $1200+ with the big tires
