Hey everyone! I'm looking for some (cheaper hopefully) replacement driver and passenger seats because mine are pretty torn up and was wondering if anyone had an recommendations as to what they like.

I'm currently looking at the Trailmax 2 pro seats on Bestop. They seem cheaper along with having a nice look to them but I don't see any reviews. Plus I see different things about needing an adapter bracket and whatnot so I don't wanna go thru the hassle of buying then returning them.

Search the internet for instructions on " upgrading" to Jeep Grand Cherokee seats. If you find a suitable set of seats they are very comfortable.

You will have to do a bit of fabricating on the underside of the seat to get them to fit on the brackets in your TJ. If I remember correctly all I had to do was drill four holes to align the Grand Cherokee underside bracket with the TJ seat bracket. You will want to do plenty of trial fits and eyeballing before you decide where to drill. You will need to strip all of the un-needed brackets from the bottom of the Grand Cherokee seats first. You will also need to decide what to do with the electrical wires if the seats are equipped with motors to adjust the position. The motors on the seats I found still worked correctly. Was not too difficult to wire them up to work in the TJ. Just tied them direct into the battery on a separate fuse for each seat. You may also need a Dremel tool to do a bit of fabricating of the plastic covers where they meet the door entrance. Or, you may just remove the plastic covers and go with the "rough" look. You will see what I mean when you place them in for the first visual. Also, you may need to tweak the seat positioning a bit to get the seatbelt to work without rubbing. Again, these two tweaks are minor and very easy to accomplish to get the seats to fit and work properly.

I had no idea that was an option
Badass!!!! I always loved the GC seats personally

What do people typically do to match the rears to them??
Is there covers available or is that a custom interior shop $$ choice??

I found this thread, post 7

I took the rear seat out of my LJ when I installed the Gr8TOP. So, no idea what people do to get the rear to match. Personally, if I were worried about the front and the rear seats matching I would have them all re-upholstered with the same material. (Using the original rear seat from the TJ to keep expenses down)

Those look nice. I didn't know TJ's had a headrest. Maybe, they did in the later models. I just did my seats in Leather, both fronts and back seat. They cost me $1100.00 installed, which is probably what you would pay for the Bestop seats in total for the same thing. I paid an extra $350.00 for the matching leather steering wheel cover, because mine was horrible.

Nice looking covers and the leather is sharp.

I recovered my 2003 tj with non-leather seats from "coversandcamo.com out of Utah. I was very satisfied with quality and price.

Trailmax seats from Bestop are, despite my being a big Bestop fan, junk as they just don't hold up. I installed a pair and with 7-8 months my driver's seat foam padding had crumbled and the outside bolster had collapsed. They sent me a warranty replacement which did the same thing in about the same time frame.

I posted these in the other thread but maybe they’re an option here

Got these for less than 300 at the junk yard. You can find a lot of nice seats in other cars. Bmw seats from 335i sport are very nice and comfy but I couldn’t find any in good enough condition so I got these.

Was really looking for a mk6 GTI with leather but alas they eluded me. Vw makes great seats. I’ve owned several VWs

Fully powered with heating.

Got any pics inside the Jeep yet??

Also curious hiw far they come forward for rear access

I just threw some Red/Blk neoprene covers over my dilapidated seats. I have very loose passenger bushings , so I bought a kit to replace and someday I will get to it….or maybe just swap newer seats if I see some I like others have done

(Non-Jeep) I have learned 1st hand the differences between a DIY restore on seats, (Reupholstering) Vs paying an interior shop to rip them apart and restore springs, hog rings, and padding to reinforce weakened areas. Its night and day and was worth it

However I also love retrofits, as I did that also
These are both non-Jeep expereinces
