So my new to me Jeep came with a Mike Marker winch… When I got home, I unspooled the cable and the winch worked like a charm… I had never heard of them, so I did a little googling on it, and found out in the past They made a pretty good winch, but now are pretty much throwaways… I contacted the customer support and told them that I had bought a jeep, and it had one of their winches on it but all of the details were wore out, and I was wanting to refurbish the winch and see if they could supply me with new decals… The representative asked me for pictures of the winch and then emailed me back and said that they haven’t made that winch in years but he sent me some new current decals if I wanted to use them… Seems this winch was built between 25 and 30 years ago, about the time the jeep was new,… I tore it apart and cleaned/repacked the grease in the gear end and cleaned the connections in the motor end, and cleaned all the rust off and put a fresh coat of rust oleum black paint on it and put the new decals (not the correct ones, but they’ll work) on it… If it lasts another 25 years I’ll be happy!

I've had a winch on the TJ for 4 years now and have never used it to pull myself out of anything and I have tried to get stuck just so I can Winch Out! no luck, the TJ will not cooperate and I'm still wanting to use it to save myself. I have used it tp pull out other vehicles, like Hummers and 4-Runners, but no Jeeps yet, they just don't get stuck!

Yeah, I had a bad lands on my last jeep and the only thing I used it for was to roll pine logs over into a trailer for my father-in-law… in fact, I had decided that I wasn’t even gonna put a winch on the next jeep I got, but it just so happened it had one on it… the only time I’ve ever got stuck was in a semi dry lake bed that I thought was solid. It was about 3 inches deep of slick mud.… I had a winch on the front, but had absolutely nothing to hook onto. I was 100 yards to the shoreline… Lol.

Warn and Ramsey used to send you replacement decals for free. Not anymore though. They expect you to pay to advertise for them...

Nice to see some winch vendors still care about their customers.

Warn's customer service department will still do that.

I requested some decals from Warn for my XD9000 about a year ago and they never responded. They were on sale through Montana Jacks and Ebay for about $35. Might need to try again.

Did you actually speak with someone in their customer service department?

I did. They told me i'd have to pay for them. This was about 6 months ago. Maybe you are a better sweet talker than I am:giggle:

It was an older model. Maybe they still do free for the newer ones. Who knows

I've only had good experiences after calling Warn's customer service department.

Just called. XD9000i decal set on the way! Very nice to deal with. They were happy to send them out. Said they had plenty.

I have a Mile Marker on my TJ. Not quite as old as that one ... but I got it in 2004 for my pickup and i mostly used it to pull stumps when I was clearing land. Which apparently was 20 years ago? Sheesh.

Anyway, mine is in bad shape. I need new cable, the electronic box has some broken connectors, and I don't have the remote. I don't have the time to repair it and I have not gotten around to replacing it.

However, I do still have the slightly worn hat it came with. If you want it, message me with your address and it's yours. I figure if you've got the stickers, you should have the hat!

(I dont check the forums regularly, so if you do message me, dont be surprised if it takes me a month to respond.)

You lowered it's capacity by 4000 lbs with that sticker. 12000 to 8000 lbs. You should have left good enough alone.
