Need a quick opinion on this rust

The Jeep appears to have been sitting a while due to the spider webs that can be seen on a couple tires.
The majority of the rust I see is surface rust and not of the cancerous style.
Please take a closer look at the inside of the frame rails near the transfer case skid plate bolts and the axle loops that are above and behind the rear axle and where the front differential control arm mounts are located.
Inspect the tub flooring and where the rubber frame mounts are located for cancerous rust.
 
At 37K it has sat most of it’s life. Was it just pulled behind that motorhome? Check the tires year of manufacture. $18K is not a bad price for here in SoCal. It will not hurt to offer $15K. When I bought mine 2 yrs ago all I found was over priced crap her in SoCal. Cover on winch indicates to me that they took care of it. Rust is not an issue on it to me. Frame rust is more important than axle rust. I think it’s a good find.

Looks nice and appears to have the old Jeeperman rock rails which attach to frame without drilling holes.
feel inside frame though the holes in a couple places. Frames typically rust from inside out and if inside frame does not feel smooth but scaley u might have a problem down the road. Also check to see if previous owners were all from Cali and not a god foresaken rust belt state like Illinois. I doubt the inside of frame has any rust but never can be sure these days.
 
Also find a dirt road and make sure the lockers work properly. TJ Rubi locker parts are getting very thin right now with no really new replacement options.
That is if you intend to keep the factory lockers and not switch to ARB or others.

Nothing scary here. Just be sure to run the VIN to know what you're getting. At that mileage, 15 - 18K is very reasonable. If you get it for 15 to 16K, assuming a clean title, you've done very well!

You would need to check inside the frame and body mount channels with an endoscope to be sure. As for the axles- it is of no concern. It would take a tremendous amount of heavy scaling rust for it to reach the point where brackets are compromised. The amount of axle rust in the picture I posted is of no concern. That same level of rust and scaling on the frame is usually a death sentence.

Low miles.. double edged sword.

Lots of stuff will need attention due to lack of use. First thing that comes to mind are the brakes. Seized calipers, clogged bleeders, rotted lines...

If it’s a Cal vehicle those are not an issue out here. Heat is the destroyer out here. Plastic and rubber issues, never rust unless they live close to the beach or drove even once along Pismo Beach. Check the VIN and you can find the build sheet and it will tell you where it was first delivered to. Also make sure it’s a Rubicon and not just stickered.
 
Remember, flat towing miles do not show on the odometer. It looks like a pretty good deal though. Gauging by the presence of locker pumps it is definitely a Rubicon.

Ask how many miles are on the RV. And how many miles were on the two it probably replaced.

Too expensive for me. Too many high mileage clapped out TJs for around $4k. I don't mind a little sweat equity and honestly at that mileage it'll be perfect or you're going to end up replacing everything.
