Not tricycle.

I had a huffy bike with a banana seat, and a sissy bar. Purple was huge back in the day.

I pictured you riding some piece of wood between two stone wheels as you tried to outrun the dinosaurs...

My Dad cut the ad out of the newspaper that the bike was in and then put it inside of a 2'x3' with a few rocks in it for weight.
My Parents said that I cried and had a look of, they must hate me, on my face.
Then my Dad said to go find it. My only hint was that it was not in the house.
Ten minutes later they saw me riding it into the street. My Mom freaked.
I rode it towards the other kids that had new bikes. About a half-hour later I came home with a 2" cut on my right elbow and still have the scar
to this day.
The bike was a Schwinn Stingray. Metallic gold, ape hangers and a gold banana seat.

That lead me towards getting my motorcycle permit at 15 and a half years old.

Good Times

I don't remember my first bike, but my first "real" bike was a Diamondback Mr Lucky. I still have it.

I almost forgot about the neighbor girl 2 house away. For Xmas, she got a Purple Schwinn Sting-ray. Ape hangers w/white streamers and a white banana seat. It was the Deluxe model with a cheater rear slick, a smaller front tire with the Springer front end. Her Parents made sure that she was stylish back then. She's still my best friend of all time and we're both over 65 now.

She had some classy rides too. Including an AMC Pacer, an MG Midget and plain jane Ford Econoline 1-ton set up with stone working tools for high-end fireplace and indoor saunas. A few have made it into local magazines. I'm very very proud of her.

Since I had 2 older brothers my first bike was a hand me down, a Schwinn 26" with balloon tires that my brother made into a hot rod by removing the fenders and chain guard and painting it black. Finally when I was about 10 I got a new Schwinn Collegiate 5 speed, gold. Rode it everywhere and used to haul it down the basement stairs to work on it in the winter, kept it in top shape, even touch up paint.
