I can’t get the tail housing off the shaft. What am I missing?
I already took off the lock ring but it doesn’t want to slide out.

Do I need to remove the larger snap ring ?

If the snap ring does not help, you may have to pull the back case half out with the slip yoke and work the bearing loose outside the vehicle. You will also have to remove the front yoke to make this happen.
 
I would pull it out of the case, take the chain off and then take off the snap ring at the other end of the rear output shaft so you can remove the two gears being held in. You only need the pump from the old output part of the case.

Yea that’s what I’m going to do.
I’m trying to pull the the two tcase half’s apart but the dam RTV is like a weld.
I need a blow torch to melt the RTV.

There are two pry points on each end of the case. Are you using them?
 
Backside of the main shaft there has another snap ring, you may be able to slide everything out the back.
