Trying to figure out what the most comfortable, but still effective, restraint
system is for the type of wheeling we enjoy. We normally do crawling in Arkansas, Missouri, etc. where almost everything is up or down, bouncy, and usually off-camber. We also get in and out of our Jeeps a lot which means buckle/unbuckle 15+ times a day. We already have good CORBEAU seats.
The perfect system would 1) Be comfortable 2) Be easy and quick to get in and out of 3) Provide support to keep you upright when off camber (give your back/abdominal a little break) 4) and keep you safe in the event of a roll over.
We are still using the stock 3 point seatbelt which can be uncomfortable and a PITA. The shoulder strap can get up into your neck. The self tightening makes it gradually tighten on you which usually coincides with a slope that locks it and tries to strangle you.

I have seen people use just a lap belt - usually a 3” racing harness style that buckles in the middle that makes it easy and quick to buckle/unbuckle and avoids the shoulder strap issues. Won’t keep your upper body from flailing around and give no extra support when off-camber.
The other option is a full harness with shoulder straps. The shoulder straps would definitely keep you from flailing around and might give that extra support off-camber? I guess you can also just use the lap belt on flat stuff and hook the shoulder straps when needed?

Anybody found the perfect solution?

For tougher trails I use a 3" aircraft style seat belt. If it's an OMG trail then I add my 2" shoulder straps. But for most of my offroading I used the OEM 3 pt. seat belt.

Circling back to this - still haven't figured anything out. Anyone come up with a great idea in the last few months.....

Exactly what Jerry said.

I prefer the OEM 3pt. When the shoulder strap bugs I just put it behind me.

If you dont like being able to hang your head out the window, the 4pt is for you.

There is no one perfect setup for everyone. Pick the setup that annoys you the least.

As for 1-3 on your perfect system, pick two of them. I cant think of anything that checks all 3.

Similar to Jerry. When I used to run the Hammers I had a thick aircraft lap belt. Easy to get in and out of when off camber. If it got really weird I would double up with the OEM belt. I felt I had to move too much in the seat to see the trail so over the shoulder belts never made sense.
