I’m in the middle of a clutch/throw out bearing replacement, and I may be an idiot (at least sometimes) or I may just be exhausted from fighting bell housing bolts (up top ones suck)… but I’m just not seeing an easy way to disconnect the transfer case shifter linkage. Someone mind enlightening me to lessen my measure of stupidity?

Just pop the linkage on the lever connected to the transfer case out with a long screwdriver.

That’s what I was initially thinking, but for whatever reason it looked like I might damage the bushing if I did that.… I guess I was getting exhausted/not thinking.

You're not wrong, and the last time I did that it was a bitch and a half to put it back together.

I have a cable shifter now, but with stock linkage I might just remove the nut that holds the little bell crank plate on the selector shaft.

I sprayed mine with a little bit of PB blaster, then just put a pry bar between the tunnel & link.
Slipped right off.

Same for re-assembly.

As for the top bolts, they're a TON easier to get to if you save them for last, and droop the rear of the transmission a little.
Gives you space to actually see/feel what you're doing.

I wish I would have had that piece of info before getting through that bit (top bolts)… actually a neighbor came over and was able to get them just fine, totally reminding me that I need to get back in the gym lol.

Don't worry. It took me an hour of fighting with them before I figured out how to make my life easier. lol.

Nope. I just did a cable shifter. Those bushings are a bear to remove. If it DOES pop out, pop it back in.
